What is a Custom Dataset?
2 mins read - Created on Oct 30, 2025A Custom Dataset in Kimola refers to the raw text data that you either upload manually or that Kimola automatically collects when you create a report using a supported product or content link. It represents the unprocessed version of your data — stored exactly as it was when first added to the system.
Custom Datasets act as the foundation of your analysis. They contain the original feedback, reviews, survey answers, or any text content you plan to use later.
To explore your custom datasets, log in to your Kimola account and open your Dashboard. From the left menu, click Datasets, then go to Custom Datasets to view your data collections.
How Custom Datasets Are Created
There are two main ways Custom Datasets can create in your dashboard:
1. Manual Upload
You can upload your own dataset (for example, a CSV or Excel file) that contains text you want to analyze. Each file you upload is stored under Datasets → Custom Datasets in its raw form.
2. Automatic Collection via Link
When you create a report from a supported link (for instance, a product page on Amazon), Kimola automatically collects related data such as product reviews or consumer comments. This collected data also appears as a Custom Dataset in your dashboard.
In both cases, the dataset remains unprocessed — meaning no AI model or categorization has yet been applied. Typical columns you’ll see in a Custom Dataset include Content, URL, Date, Rating, Platform, and Title, depending on the source of your data.
Why Custom Datasets Are Important
Custom datasets in Kimola often represent the raw, unprocessed versions of data that have already been analyzed through a report. Storing them in Kimola not only prevents data loss but also keeps these original datasets organized and easily accessible in one place.
Your datasets are securely stored in Kimola, allowing you to revisit, download, or reuse them whenever needed — without worrying about losing local files or earlier report versions.
While custom datasets are not analyzed or modeled directly in the dashboard, they serve as reliable reference points for tracking past analyses or preparing data for future research and reporting.
