Engaging Executive Functioning Workbook for Kids

This book is great for kids of all ages which has a lot activists for them to use for them to execute their skills not only for school, but also in the real world. Happy customer. ^_^

I use this with my 12yo son at home as a morning (homeschool) warm-up. He noticed the age range (sugg 6-9?) printed on the book and told me he was learning things that would even help his dad. :) I don’t find the writing condescending, the content is meaningful and relatable, and there isn’t much “filler.” Not every lesson is applicable to our family, but this has still proven to be an exceptional purchase for us.

I use this book with my pediatric/and tween ADHD patients. The kids find comfort in relating to the characters, the book provides a gentle practical approach to teaching problem solving skills.

I’m in my 18th year of teaching special education, and I’m the mother of a child with ADHD. Executive functioning skills are extremely important factors in a child’s view of themselves as a learner. I wish I had read this book sooner. From Chapter 1, which explains working memory, self-control and mental flexibility to Chapter 6 for parents, this book is filled with practical and useful tools to help every child with executive functioning. This is a perfect book for the busy teacher or parent because it’s brilliant strategies are simple to utilize. The book makes sense of a confusing topic and I think it will change lives.

Executive Functioning: Workbook for Kids by Sharon Grand, Ph.D., BCN, wrote and created a phenomenal hands-on set of skill strengthening exercises for children that are easily comprehended and, in my opinion, could help adults as well. I learned more about the frustrations children go through and some of the reasons why they act out. And there is no single solution because everyone has their weaknesses and strengths.
Executive Functioning will find both weaknesses and strengths in your child's abilities and teach you how to highlight their confidence by using those strengths as a level to encourage success in overcoming their weaknesses.
This workbook offers fun exercises that build memory, help with focusing on tasks and impulse control issues. Mrs. Grand's book is not just to help children feel understood and feel more confident when achieving goals but also offers many practical, easy-to-follow guides.
I learned from several of her tips and blueprints about how to go about sharpening my memory and getting more things done. Old is the new young when it comes to memory and incentives. This book is the perfect addition for parents and teachers who have children who need help getting motivated, organized, and feeling safe with their emotions.

Not only is this book an incredible resource for parents to use with their children, it has quickly become the most used resource in my school counseling office. I am a school counselor in an elementary school for grades K-5 and the exercises and stories in this workbook are the perfect length and time to do with my students. Students are engaged, enjoy the activities and they are learning invaluable skills all at the same time. I highly recommend this book to parents and practitioners who work with children on executive functioning skills.
