High-Quality Retractable Extension Cord Reel for Organized and Safe Power Distribution

This thing has some weight to it (of course) but more than that, the case it is in is well made and durable. I like that it can be mounted as well! This is a worthwhile purchase especially for people that struggle with messes of these cords

Okay, now there is one not-so-good aspect, and that's the mounting mechanism. I took a picture of the page from the manual, and it shows the mounting bracket being screwed in to wood, all four corners. However, that's not possible unless your wall is solid wood. My wall is drywall, with 2x4" studs 16" apart behind it, so keep that in mind. Very standard! So, how are you supposed to screw all four corners in, when the corners are 3+" apart? The bracket is not 16" in length, so it can't mount from stud to stud. My studs are 2x4, which is actually more like 1.5" wide, so there is no way to get all four of the supplied screws into a single 2x4 stud. What to do?
1- Screw two holes directly into the stud, with the other two being toggle-bolts (what I did)
2- Place the bracket exactly in the middle of the stud, and use >4" screws to reach the stud from all four corners.
3- Ignore the mounting bracket and mount directly to the stud. You'd need your own bolts and a 90 degree drill adapter for this.

So, it's not perfect, nothing is. However, the way I have it mounted is not unsafe. In my case, I had toggle-bolts on hand, but it's not too much to grab a box if you don't have any. I can't retract a star for this, so I just called it out and I'll give this 4.5 stars. Thanks!

Just installed and used, but the mounting bracket basically make it impossible to mount to a single stud without putting some type of backing which make dropped my rating by 1 star...come on its not that difficult to design a metal mounting plate like all the others to make it simply to install.

I mounted this on the ceiling of my barn so I could plug in the block heaters for various diesel engine vehicles.

What I like:
* Has lighted end so I can tell if power is on.
* Not overly big and heavy, but still sturdy = “just right”
* Can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
* Cord length is “just right”

This extension cord reel hold 50 ft of thick cord. It recoils back strongly. The mounting bracket is strong. It provides large screws and anchors. The plug side is only 3 ft long so have to put it near the outlet.
