  • Won’t take payment methods - DO NOT USE AFFIRM

    I use shop pay and signed up to pay off a purchase over 4 payments which they use affirm for. My first payment - all good. When my first scheduled payment is set to happen I get an error from affirm saying they cannot process my payment. I confirm my account information and that I have way more than enough in my account for the charge, however they cannot process they payment even though there is absolutely nothing wrong on my end.
    I have to download the app and create an account for this process to only repeat. I try adding in my credit card….same issue. I try again to make sure all information is correct….same issue. Fine, I try a THIRD payment method. FINALLY IT WORKS.

    Reviewing everything I notice that the first two payment methods were both Mastercards and the third was Visa….I guess they only accept Visa cards?? How in the world do you not accept Mastercard in 2023??? Absolutely ridiculous.

    I will never use affirm again. Their customer service rep was impossible to understand and would use a tone when I asked them to repeat information. They wouldn’t help me even though the issue was clearly on their end. Worst experience ever.

    I like the Affirm company. The payment section has given me issues tho. It wouldn’t take my payment. It me a bit to get a hold of someone for help. They told me my bank wouldn’t approve payment. My bank told me they were trying to run payment without expiration date. Affirm said it goes through site. They have no idea why it would do that. I finally after days of trying just added another card. Luckily I have two checking accounts. It worked. But made my payment late. Still no idea why it has problem with payment from other bank.

  • Failure

    The app failed to provide the one service that it should. I had no trouble with qualification for funds, but the amount that the merchant requested to Affirm for the loan was not the same amount charged to me, and therefore the loan couldn’t go through. Created a massive hassle, and had to cancel the order.
    There are clearly developmental problems that need to be addressed.

      I’ve used the app for a while and found it to be easy and no problems, other payment type apps should have it this easy and on top of that the purchase power is quick to grow.

      Affirm keeps sending me emails saying what a good customer I am, and how much I’m preapproved to spend.
      So I check stores. I see Sony listed at rates as low as 0%.
      I put a few items into my cart and checkout.
      Affirm gives me 4 different time frames to repay, each one at almost 30% interest!

      I’m a current customer of theirs.
      They know my credit.

      The amount is approved right away.
      Why promise rates as low as 0% at Sony before checkout, to demand almost 30% during checkout ??

      Seems VERY deceptive to me.

      On the up hand, their customer service are good at solving any issues that you more than likely will run into if you decide to use this service.

      Be careful when using the online shopping version, as more often than not your order will process, then cancel. With little to no details providing WHY the order cancelled. Leaving you with a loan payment but no product. This is where the customer service came in clutch. They released me from my loan but my “buying power” was gone as well, and the refund takes up to 10 business days. But hey I guess that’s better than just getting totally scammed

      I didn’t get approved to use this but I have excellent credit, so I don’t understand why they rejected my service. But judging by the reviews I’m glad I didn’t get approved.

      I keep trying to login and even create an account.
      Changed my number and it won’t let me sign in takes me to create an account even tho I already do created it.
      I changed the phone number and does the same.
      I’m late to my payment because the system won’t let me sign in

      I had two returns for this order. The one I had to mail in I never received a credit for. I received an email saying the item was received. Contacted customer service still no resolution. If you use affirm purchase items as it all sales are final no returns.

      I am very unhappy! I have never been late and out of 25 open accounts not one has ever been late. Not one time! I have one balance with Amazon of less than $100. I asked them for $259 today as I was shopping and they denied me for the fourth time in two weeks for my fico score! If my fico score was so perfect I wouldn’t be paying in 4 payments would I ? I would have a nice low interest credit card!

      Affirm has been very simple to use for larger purchases. Easy approval and they even notify you of upcoming payments. Convenient and better that placing on a credit card.
