Unlock Insights: Interphone UCOM4 Review Analysis Report

Premessa: posseggo già due apparecchi analoghi (UCOM 2), e ho preso questo UCOM 4 per un terzo casco (i motociclisti sanno che i caschi non sono mai troppi), quindi già ne conoscevo le caratteristiche; inoltre, l'ho acquistato per il prezzo particolarmente conveniente (non so se è un fine serie e ci sono aggiornamenti di modello, ma per le mie esigenze andava più che bene). Dunque, utilizzo la mia coppia di UCOM 2 da circa due anni, e credo di poter estendere il giudizio anche a questo UCOM 4, che si differenzia per il range di utilizzo maggiore e perché può collegare fino a 4 caschi (quelli già in mio possesso possono collegarsi solamente uno a uno).
PREGI: dimensioni e peso contenuti (anche perché la batteria è separata, peraltro sostituibile, e posizionabile ovunque ci sa un anfratto all’interno del rivestimento del casco, oppure al di fuori e dietro di esso, mediante apposita staffetta); facilità di utilizzo e di connessione BT (anche col display BMW nessun problema); possibilità di connettere altri 3 caschi, quando si va in moto in gruppo; radio FM RDS (mai usata, peraltro); risposta vocale e possibilità di memorizzare 3 numeri rapidi di frequente utilizzo; abbondanza di accessori per il montaggio; buon sistema di soppressione del rumore (si parla “comodamente” almeno fino a velocità di codice); impermeabilità IP67. DIFETTI: autonomia, inferiore a quanto dichiarato (meno di una ventina di ore reali in stand-by); qualche difficoltà di aggiornamento SW (uno dei miei UCOM 2 si è sempre categoricamente rifiutato, questo UCOM 4, invece, dopo un paio di tentativi si è convinto); ascolto della musica (per chi lo utilizza) solo discreto, per qualità (scarsina) e volume (sempre piuttosto basso); assenza di comandi vocali per la chiamata (molto grave!), presenti invece sul modello superiore UCOM 8. In sintesi, apparecchio di buona qualità generale, molto conveniente per il prezzo di acquisto (nel mio caso pari a quello del modello inferiore). Senz’altro consigliabile se non si chiedono prestazioni top (e costi analogamente superiori).

Was disappointed in the ability to communicate well through the device on separate bikes. I expected a lot more for price.

I really like this communication headset, it fit great on my helmet and it works pretty well as well, pairing is done vía bluetooth and its a quick and easy process, the microphone is descent and audio over all is a good 3-4 stars rating, There’s not drop frequency and its very reliable, recharge takes about an hour ans a half so it is pretty quick, I so definitely recommend it to all motorcyclists out there.

We use this when we go out riding and they work great. Sound is clear, is light and easy to use. There is a velcro piece that holds the headset to your helmet but may figure out a way to better attach it ... just a nitpick of mine.

I will say that the sound quality and connection isn't perfect unless you are in the same ATV or on the same motorcycle. As we always ride together this doesn't affect me just wanted to mention it.

This communication set works well in certain conditions, but I did not find it to work well for general communication for those who are riding separate motorcycles. I got this set for my girlfriend and I to be able to communicate when we are out riding, and they function well if you are riding on the same motorcycle, but we had difficulties when we were on different bikes with the extra sound that was being picked up and broadcast over the intercom. We also had issues with the range when riding on the highway and being separated in traffic.

I am a bit concerned for the sturdiness of the microphone. It is connected with the included Velcro, which so far has worked well and holds together well, but down the road with ware and tear, I am worried it may come loose when we are out riding.

After experiencing these concerns, we used them when we went out riding on ATVs and they worked well since we weren’t going to be separated and the environmental audio levels were lower. When we ride together, we get lots of use out of them talking to each other and using it for GPS directions as my bike does not have a digital display on it. I would recommend this to partner riders, or if you’re looking for something to use on ATVs, bikes, or similar vehicles.

We use this on our ATV helmets while out riding the trails. Excellent range and is very clear. We have this connected to another Bluetooth unit of a different brand and it works amazingly. Connects with iPhone and Siri, so makes it super easy to make a call or even send a text. The speakers that go in the ears of the helmet are also very nice. It is awesome to be able to listen to music while riding the 4-wheeler. This was very easy to connect to my phone and to our other Bluetooth device to use as an intercom. It adheres to our helmet quite nicely and doesn't come off even on supper rough terrain.
