We did nit enjoy this trip. Boat was sooo slow, it took 2 hours to get to the islands and 2 hours back. Boat is old, noisy and stinky. Lunch was fine and also the staff. Ang thong was realy big dissapoitment. Very dirty sea, all green and full of garbage. Stinky and nasty water, in Koh Samui are beaches more beautiful then here. Snorkling in the water was horrible - because that dirty green water and also there was NO fishes. So dissapoitment, the ride back was terrible, so hot outside, no shaddow and just really boring, we have to sit downstairs at the ground because of sun. Not recommended at all!!
This is the place everyone in the area must visit! The impressions are truly amazing! The most beautiful view from the highest point is about a half-hour walk up a fairly steep mountain along a rocky path (appropriate footwear is recommended), but the effort is definitely worth the views from the top. In addition, a beautiful beach with fine, light sand. Paradise beach.
THIS was the place that anyone and everyone MUST do if visited Samui!Hands down, one the best island trips I’ve done in Thailand in a long time (and there’s a lot to be said about that since I generally don’t do domestic trips, but due to the worldwide viral outbreak, I had to keep things ‘at home’ this year).Anyways, pickup time from my hotel was (about 8:30?) and departure on the boat started at about 9:30, and it’s basically an all-day trip, returning to Samui in the afternoon around 5pm.For the tour I was on, (but can’t remember the name now), they first go to a little cove where you can snorkel for a bit. I opted not to do this as I had done a snorkeling trip just days before at another location and it is optional for all guests to go into the water.______Then they move onto what is the first island called ‘Mae Ko’, and is one of the main feature islands as it has the beautiful, ‘Emerald Lake’, and is a 100% enclosed saltwater lake! It was super cool, and I don’t think I’ve seen a body of water like this ever before. You’ll climb up and down very steep stairs to get to the lookout, and then to actually go down to the water level to get different views. Swimming is not allowed at this lake. You’ll spend a bit of time there, and will then get aboard the boat for the next stop which is only about a 3 minute ride across to another island_____At this island, you can go kayaking, swim, or even hike to the top of the hill where you can get really nice shots of the surrounding islands and beach below you. The tour company also offered a lunch, but I opted not to do it as I knew I had limited time, and wanted to hike instead._____Lastly, and for the true grand finale, you go to the official, Ang Thong National Park, and where you’ll be “privileged” to climb many many steps, in order to reach the top of this mountain. However, upon lots of sweat and I’m sure heavy breathing (haha), you’ll be VERY happy you climbed all that way. What beholds your gaze, is just breathtaking – a striking panoramic view of lots of little islands and the blue turquoise sea! After the big hike up and after going back down after enjoying the view from atop, we had the option to swim for about 45 minutes or guests can grab a cool drink from a shop located on the island. After that time span, we boarded the boat to return to Samui and that was the end of the trip. The company also shuttled us back to our hotels from the pier where the boat was.In conclusion and for all who wish to travel to Samui, for domestic travelers (and international once the borders open up someday), this is a MUST DO day trip! You won’t be disappointed fellow travelers!
Took a day trip with some friends to this national park during covid. We spent the entire day swimming, cruising around the fabulous islands, snorkeling, drinking beer and enjoying the completely desolate golden beaches. We did not see a single other visitor the entire day which really added to the beauty of this spot. Such a great day and can be pretty cheap too!
Not sure which company we used, but it started with collection at hotel, speedboat to first island where we snorkelled for around 30 minutes, back in boat to a different area and a further 20 minutes snorkelling in a cave, then too an island where we kayaked, before walking up a very dangerous trail, for a view point which was worth a decent photo or two; don't try climbing with flip flops on. We then back in boat to a different island for lunch which was good. Not sure when, we also was taken to a lagoon which required a steep stair walk to access. Finally, to the last island for an hour relaxing on the beach (a few monkeys were walking around here). Then back to Samui. A packed day made good by the guides and decent paced speed boat.As for the national park, so much to see and the guides point out many interesting aspects along the way.
We took a speed boat, 50 minutes, then snorkling, then pictures of different islands, then kayak and after lunch. Then, lagoon and free time beach.
