The bank people calls, but there is no name of the bank when they call, which is enough to create doubt regarding their authenticity.For the same reason if someone or the other call,there is again a confusion.Moreover bank people are aware of the mails they received.If in case they are asking something to be confirmed then they should first announce it beforehand, rather than giving a surprise call.
