  • Excellent customer service

    I had positive experience with Spotahome. As Berlin is the city with very difficult housing situation, I decided not to spend half a year on trying to find appropriate accommodation but to turn to a platform where fully furnished apartments are being advertised and the support speaks English. The experience with Spotahome was positive overall, I got replies quite quickly from them and every time the issues I reported were solved professionally. The last issue was major, as the landlord did not want to terminate the contract because I allegedly did not notify him early enough, although we agreed prior to that that I should notify him exactly one month prior to termination. Spotahome did not know that, so they first told me that I cannot move out on the day I wanted to do it. But after I provided the proof of our agreement with the landlord they contacted the landlord once again and the issue was solved. Frederica who was in touch with me for Al this time was very nice and patient, and working with Berlin landlords might be challenging but it worked out well. So I recommend this service to everyone who is frightened by the idea of having to deal with viewing million apartments and signing a contract in German. The service is as stress free as possible and the customer service is very good. Also, you don’t have to have a German bank account - the payment is being withdrawn from any EU account once a month automatically, which is also very convenient.

  • Hope you have no problems

    Good website but if there is any problem, you are left alone. They say that after filling a report you are gonna get an answer, but you never get anything. You are basically left alone once you paid, someone contacts you only to check your identity.

  • ''Checked by Spotahome'' DISAPPOINTMENT

    I had a room checked by Spotahome. It was checked, so I was confident it would turn out as it does in the photos. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when I came home. My room's light was on, and it never goes out. The heater doesn't function. There is no duvet, either. Both the bathroom and kitchen ceilings frequently leak water, and a section of the kitchen ceiling has fallen. My flatmates said that there is a problem that has existed for five months. But no answer has been discovered. Flat-Mate is the company that posted the room on Spotahome. Given that I obtained the key from them and entered into a contract with them, I also lodged a complaint with Flat-Mate. Despite the fact that I expressed my problems as soon as I arrived, no solution was given. Even my room's issues remained unresolved. This room, which I have preserved in Spotahome with confidence, makes me very unhappy. Additionally, my bed had trash below it. This suggests that there hasn't been any cleaning.

      The room I rented was good, as was the process to rent it. However, they are taking almost 3 months to pay back my deposit of two months' expenses. Their responses are very slow and not accurate.

    • THEY PAY FOR TRUSTPILOT MARKETING check it on their trustpilot page. Please do not book through them. Save yourself stress and thousands in money/deposit losses

      They flagged down my previous review hahahPlease do not book through Spotahome or Erasmusu (a company they bought) they only care about profits and the landlords, but they will SCAM poor students and young professionals out of THOUSANDS of euros just google the reviews (not the Trustpilot ones which are mostly not genuine) and please stay away there are so many safer more trustworthy alternatives where you can see who you are renting from to avoid rental agencies with terrible reviews (many of them have them and can only sell their sketchy places through spotahome, mine was Roomswerent in Barcelona) and history of STEALING deposits that they ask for 48 hours after booking, not answering during the check in or during your stays when you have problems with cockroaches, no hot water running FOR MONTHS. And Spotahome customer service suddenly goes quiet. Try out other websites like idealista and be sure to check reviews of rental agencies as you do ! They refuse to cancel my booking when I clearly feel unsafe booing with Roomswerent.       Great service. Very trustworthy. The landlady was very nice, helpful and flexible whenever necessary. The room was in top shape. It was a HUGE sigh of relief once I got settled in. Nothing to complain. Everything went great.

    • I now understand the bad reviews

      Spotahome contract showed that my month of April was fully paid, which kind of made sense, since the total of room was 1200, and I paid 1600, which included their fee. I gave the landlord almost one month notice of a change of plans (which she said was fine), on a whim she decided to cut my stay short and bill me another 400 Euro from 20th of April, when I reached out to Spotahome for help, since my contract was with them, I was basically just advised to vacate the property “because I had agreed to move out on 20th of April”

      Terrible service and hospitality. Spotahome left me the apartment I rented in Milan a mess, and the first day I checked in was horrible. Trash on the floor, cigarettes on the balcony, spider webs and dust everywhere, even a horrendous smell of garlic and expired food in the apartment when I walked in. Food still in the fridge, trash cans full...I will never book an apartment through Spotahome again, ever. Please, do not rent with Spotahome. They are THE worst real estate agency that exists.

      I texted multiple times their customer service via email, they always replied to me within a reasonable amount of time (2-3 working days) and solved any of my problems. I would describe their service as reliable, punctual and of course problem solving. Thank you very much, I had a great experience.

      The customer service team was quick during my booking process. I spoke with Angela Marco. At first I wished I could have spoken with a person on the phone because my questions felt a little more complex, but I was able to communicate well with the customer service team via email and got everything worked out easily. On a separate note, I do feel like the booking/service fee is quite high.

    • Scams, Unresponsive, Unhelpful, Waste of Time

      Scams, unresponsive landlords, useless help center and old listings that nobody checks if are still available.I found a listing that says no maximum stay, so I ask for a stay of 9 months. The owner takes three weeks to say anything, and in the meantime I talk with the help center to see what is the problem. I specifically said that I am willing to stay shorter if that is the problem, and to let the landlord know that I am flexible in general. They assure me that the length of stay is not the problem.Two weeks later they reject my booking, saying that the duration was longer than they wanted. Spotahome did nothing to respond to me, wasted my time, and should enforce to landlords to be truthful in their listings. If you want only short stay, there is the option to put it on the listing. Maybe if I did not say I was Sudanese I could have gotten the place, because there is no other reason that the next person who tried to book should have been accepted over me. Lots of friends have had similar problems, and spotahome takes no liability for these problems. Absolute trash.Same response to every negative review - copy pasted and obviously not taking anything seriously at all. Just like all useless companies with no liability from their services, it's a numbers game. It doesn't matter how many people stop using your service, you always get paid and spam all over the internet. Schiffo.

    • Good but not necessarily worth the price

      In general, Spotahome is a good idea and a comfortable website to search for properties. The personal visit to the property, when done, gives an additional factor of security! On the downside, the diversity of landlord policies makes for a lot of crucially important conditions being in small print and (in my case) most of the organisation with the landlord had to be done directly. Also, note that the booking dates on Spotahome are not binding to at least some landlords, so contract termination might need to be taken care of extra!With all that in mind, I find the booking fee to be too high for the service provided.

      I am sure that the majority of four star and five star reviews of this company have been bought by the company! The company says in its website that if images do not comply with the room that they rent out, they will return the money to the client. But they don't! We had the worst experience in Valencia and said right away that we don't want the room and didn't sign any contract, but Spotahome refused to accept our complaint despite the images and evidence that we had provided as they wanted. They are thieves by daylight. Beware, Beware, Beware.

    • Misleading pictures and you won't get any money back

      We have booked a room for our son through Spotahome in Valencia. When he arrived there, the room had no proper window and no natural light and felt like a prison cell. On the photos on the website the window was hidden behind a curtain so that you could not see that it was blocked by a wall. On the photo, the room was artificially made to look bright. The landlord was ok for our son not to take the room but Spotahome still does not return his money and just doesn't answer any correspondence. Even though they say on the website that you can change your room if you don't like it this is not true and you don't get any money back. So be very careful. Don't trust the pictures. Once you send any money you don't get it back.

    • This is fraud

      We were staying in their apartment for less than a month and we left it clean and tidy. All of a sudden, I received an email from the landlord who is claiming that we damaged and even stole numerous items and furniture in the apartment, which is completely untrue. He even stated that we stole his microwave (what nonsense???) and he said we damaged an AC, a TV, and an iron which WE NEVER EVEN USED. He claimed that his precious lamp has disappeared, yet it was left untouched in the living room. The host said that the flat was a mess when in reality we cleaned it thoroughly and even washed the towels. The landlord did not meet with us in person when we were checking out as he simply told us where to leave the keys and now I understand why. If we ended up meeting, he would see that the flat was in an ideal condition. Without providing us with any proof of his false allegations, he is now refusing to give us the security deposit back! Avoid this company because it is an absolute fraud. I have no idea why this company continues to operate, remaining unpunished and stealing money from innocent people. The worst experience we have ever had...Update: Spotahome has done absolutely nothing about this case. They simply said that their help is "limited".

      If you want to stay less than 3 months in an above average place in any city then get ready to be met with endless rejections and lies from landlords, facilitated and ignored by Spotahome.The website itself is one of the best for usability, all the way until actually booking anything if you're trying to get anywhere nice in a city for less than 3 months. After applying for countless apartments for a 30 day stay I've been rejected by landlords with complete lies just to reject my 1-month booking as they know if they wait they'll get a 3-6 month booking instead. This would make sense if I were booking say 3+ months in advance and taking a 1-month chunk out of their availability deterring 3-6 month bookings, but I've even been rejected trying to book the day one comes available after a previous tenant just for 30 days.Lies I've been given are:"The dates requested would leave the property free for too long in between two bookings, and the landlord doesn’t want it to be empty during this period."(I had requested to move in the literal day after the previous tenant moved out)."The current tenant decided to stay longer in the home, so it won't be available during the requested dates."(The landlord changed the previous tenant's stay to be longer, rejected me, then changed it back to available).Of course, landlords can do whatever they want with their properties. The issue is Spotahome allowing them to do it on their service at the detriment of tenants and having zero communication and assistance over the issue. It has been a genuine nightmare and endless frustration using this site. The other bad reviews about losing security deposits for no reason just shows how Spotahome prioritise landlords over customers right from start to finish. Avoid.

    • Landlord stole 2.500€ Security Deposit

      We rented an apartment for 2 months because we were working in Milan - Italy. After moving out, the landlord didn’t give us our security deposit back (2.500€!!) They also said, that we stole a hairdryer and an iron which I absolutely not true since we can definitely afford to buy our own ones and indeed those things were not in the apartment from the day we moved in. Anyway we are fighting to get our money back for 1 year now. Spotahome is not really helping since it’s not included in their responsibilities but I would expect them to ban the landlords from Spotahome or help us a little bit. So unfortunately I can not recommend to trust the landlords that a offering their apartments in this website.

    • Accessory to fraud?

      Accessory to fraud? Beware tenants. Going by my own experience, Spotahome is not a neutral party - its interests are primarily tied to landlords. They promise to check properties for you but in my case they missed a hole in the wall that leaks heat, prompting the central heating to consume way too much energy. Three months into a 7 month rental contract my landlord accused me of over-consumption of gas and raised my utility bills by 57%, even though energy prices have fallen during this period. Spotahome also missed a legal hole in the rental contract (you sign AFTER paying Spotahome's EUR300 fee and a months' rent!). The contract gave the landlord carte blanche to change the utility bills as much as he wanted. In addition, my landlord insisted I pay a much bigger deposit than the one clearly marked on the Spotahome listing. It was December, I was desperate to find a place before Christmas. I told Spotahome about my deposit and utility bill problems. They have done nothing. In my view the business model of Spotahome is seriously flawed and therefore unsustainable.It's only a matter of time before this company gets charged with being an accessory to fraud, and closed down by the authorities. Tenants, don't get hoodwinked. Spotahome attracts dishonest landlords, and then takes no responsibility when you tell them you've been conned. Look elsewhere. I will!

      I planned my trip to Barcelona two weeks in advance, one apartment I waited for a week and a half and the landlord nor the customer support replied. After some time, I booked a different apartment but the landlord requested more documents two days before travel. I sent them but received no answer from the landlord and customer support. As a result I booked a hotel room for the same day I arrived and booked a different apartment on Airbnb, which actually worked compared to this waste of time or, sorry, spotahome.com. Don’t bother using it!

      I recently used Spotahome to find a new apartment in London.The website is easy to navigate and I found the descriptions of the apartments to be very accurate and informative. I found the perfect place within a few days and was able to book it with no hassle.I only had a few questions before selecting a place and I asked them on Facebook. Their quick response gave me peace of mind knowing that I could easily get in touch with them if I needed any assistance.Overall, I would highly recommend Spotahome! The team was very helpful.

    • Flat for 5 months during Erasmus

      I booked a stay in Sofia, Bulgaria through Spotahome and I was not disappointed! The booking process was very easy and they payed the rent to the landlord when I arrived. It's a huge advantage to have an apartment before you get to your destination, you safe money, stress and time if you don't have to stay in an hostel/airbnb for the first nights/weeks. And also, most Landlords on Spotahome offer way more flexible moving in and out dates then the local Landlords (here in Bulgaria). You know exactly what you get before your journey.Even when I had some issues with my landlord, they were more than helpful to give me information, and the replies by Pedru H. were always really fast. I could sort out the problems I had thanks to their help.In general they are very friendly and patient with me. Totally worth the small fee!
