  • great app, lousy login security

i really like the app but having to go to the browser periodically to log in, then having to allow my browser to invoke the binary is a really sloppy/bad habit to encourage people to use.

it's an application. just do the login from the app...

makes me wonder what other bad infosec decisions hide underneath that aren't as obvious...

  • Wonderful but can't afford it (updated)

UPDATE: I was incorrect. The developer actually DID reach out to me, and for some reason I did not get an email notification about it. They were reasonable. I will have to find a way to pay for this app because after having experienced the Pro features, honestly, this app is perhaps the best to-do list-type app I've ever tried, and I'm an appaholic. It is powerful and also integrates with many other apps. When an app actually helps you get a grip on life and manage things so much better, even if you're struggling financially, you start to wonder what else you can cut out because it's reducing your stress and helping feel more in control. I'll find a way to swing it. It is just that good.

    PREVIOUS REVIEW:

This is a wonderful app. The UI interface is fabulous. I am so grateful to the developers for really thinking out the interface.

I really wish I could upgrade to Pro, but I just can't afford it. I'm permanently disabled and receive Social Security Disability. Since I can't work any traditional job, what I've been trying to do is make art during times which I'm not in severe pain, with the hopes that I will be able to build up a store with art and a print-on-demand site to fulfill orders. I really need the features of the Pro version, but I cannot afford it. I don't know how to contact the developer to see if he can help with the expense. I can prove I'm disabled and on SSDI if that's needed. I don't know if you can afford to help me, Developer, but I would appreciate it. Even if you can't, thank you anyway for a wonderful app.

  • Crashes when moving sections between projects

When you move a section to a different project, the app loses it's server connectiona and displays a yellow icon at the top to indicate that. Any work you do after that point will not be saved, and if you create a backup it will not include any work done after that. This applies to both the OSX app, and the website. If you do it on the iPhone app, the entire app crashes. I have been emailing with support for over a week about this and nothing has been done to fix it. I have lost my work multiple times before I figured out exactly what triggered it. You need to fix this.

  • Best of best

I am a productivity freak, and I used a number of products on the app store. This is by far the best. I love its NLP functionality, the speed of which they develop and react to customer feedback, the simplicity of UI, user experience, and everything.

I submitted a feedback once when they made an update and removed the functionality to hide Todoist app in dock. I emailed them, got a response, and they updated the app in the next few days. Now there is "Show Todoist in Dock" in the advanced settings section.

I've been using this app for little less than a year, and I plan to continue using it.

  • Five Stars Isn't Enough

I never write reviews, but I feel I have to for this because it has been life-changing - it's that good. Ever since I had Covid I've struggled with short term memory in that I lose thoughts really easily. Todoist allows me to quickly and easily make notes of what I need to do and get back to them later. It's so incredibly easy to use and intuitive. I mean it, it's an absolute game changer. Five stars is definitely not enough!

    • Best thing ever! Is great for my ADHD as welll

I downloaded this app out of nowhere and I love it so much. As a college student with ADHD it is so helpful to be able to see all of my assignments and everything in one place in a simple fashion. At the begining of every semester I always put all of my assignments into the app and organize it by sections to seperate it into each class and assign it to a day so I always know what is due when. I truly love this app. I use the free version too and its just perfect I don't feel a need to buy the pro version right now but I definitly would if I needed to do group work.

    • It's definitely gotten worse

I removed Todoist a while ago but decided to give it a go again because I wanted an easy way to maintain a living list that I can re-order as needed (as compared with pen and paper). I hit nothing but headaches right off the bat. I can only add items to the bottom of the list, not the top, unless I want to make two extra clicks for every task. Once I have all these items at the bottom of the list, there's no way to drag them all to the top at once. I have to do one at a time. If I give them a priority of 1 and group or sort by priority, there's no way to manually reorder the individual items within a priority group.

I can't do anything with multiple tasks at once, including delete or move to another list. I can't click and drag to copy a portion of my list and paste it somewhere else, like in a status update. To delete a task, I click the triple dots and see that there's a keyboard shortcut, but that only works if I've selected the task. I can only seem to select the task using the arrow keys on my keyboard, but that only works from the top. To get to the bottom I have to arrow all the way down. Once I do delete a task, my selection is gone and I have to start from the top again.

It really is maddening, and I don't know how the devs could actually be using this. I started out with three stars here but I've changed my mind to two.

    • Love the App

This app has fundamentally changed the way I plan and get things done. I can't stress how much easier my life has been thanks to the way this app was designed and rolled out. I give about zero thought to the realities of tech or tech companies, but Todoist has had a real positive impact in my life. Good work, folks!

I was always good at being the leader of my time, but this taught my how to be a manager of my time. If I didn't have this app, I wouldn't be able to stay on top of my game. I use it to manage work, fitness, meals, daily chores, monthly chores, readings, volunteering, and any project of all shapes and sizes.

    • Was a great app but now it is unusable

This is the best to do app because I was able to link my devices to it and access my lists everywhere and it has other cool functions, but recently there is this popup about an update while there is no update. Every time I go to click something, the popup gets in the way. Such a shame I can no longer use this app. I will definitely change this to a five star once the issue is fixed

    • Was good, now unreliable

Todoist used to be good, even if it lacked functionality. With more functionality added the support has not scaled. Currently it's plagued with server syncing issues (making it impossible to use across desktop/mobile/browser). Backups are not showing. Tasks are being lost. Configuration errors are causing people to resubscribe to the app (at additional cost). There's been plenty of issues with timezone support mixed with calendar integration.

It goes from bad to worse... Customer service is asleep at the wheel, and does not respond to issues in a timely way (have waited over 3 days for any response - and only got one after I started to chase heavily). They apologise for not getting back to you, and provide solutions that are not real (article on FAQ site that is only remotely tied to the problem).

It's highly ironic that they talk about the zen of productivity. It really pains me to give it such a low score (and really wish I could go lower) because it used to be good.

    • Best of the best

After trying pretty much *every* task manager available, I think Todoist is tops. If you're at the start of your productivity journey, just stop now and download Todoist and then work with it for at least a month to get used to all the features. A huge advantage with Todoist is the integrations and I highly recommend Tascaly becuase it moves your tasks from Todoist (2-way sync) to your calendar seamlessly allowing me to do what makes me the most productive: timeboxing. If I had a wish, it would be that Todoist just bought Tascaly and integrated it into their core product, but it works so well that it really doesn't matter much. Just get Todoist and don't worry about missing any important features becuase it has everything the rest have and probably more.

    • Not Working After Update

I really do like this app. It's simple and clean. However, after updating Todoist is stuck on the loading wheel of death. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling on my macbook air but no success. It continues to work on my ipad and phone. I use the app because it can cross platforms so if this isn't resolved, I'll likely switch to another app.

    • Good app but pricy

This is a wonderful application for what it does. I don't really have a complaint about how it works, just the pricing. They have raised the Pro subscription to $48 a year, which I think is a lot for what is really a simple list app.
I had an opportunity to lock in the $36 a year rate they used to charge me but missed their deadline. I contacted them later and asked whether they would consider giving me that price even though I had missed the deadline but they said no. I thought they might want something from me rather than nothing but that was not what they were willing to do, so I have moved on. There are so many other apps with more functions (TickTick) that cost less so I have moved on.

    • Amazing App!!!

I've never had a dedicated Task/ToDo app as I've always used my own "cobbled together" system. I read a lot of reviews re Todoist, and the most common thing I saw was "I don't know how I got along without this app", or something similar. I'm not really a power user, but between my remote work and personal life I spend a lot of time organizing a lot of projects. Todoist is a major game changer for me and I can honestly say "I don't know how I got along without this app". The intuative, minimalist interface and customization, are great. There are many "under the hood" features that should cover just about anyone's needs. If you need an app like this I would highly recommend Todoist and you'll probably be as impressed as I am. Cudo's to the developers!!!

    • Sometimes you gotta think about the customer rather than use techy terms for investors

I get that you want to use natural language processing to add dates and stuff but its like a new programming language i have to learn. It is not very easy to pick up for complicated recurring reminders. Why not provide an option to use traditional options through click and select to setup recurring reminders. Seems like leadership is very bad. Why go all in on natural language processing when its simpler to add recurring tasks traditionally. For this very thing, I'm moving back to Apple reminders. No wonder they are eating you guys all up. They concentrate on the customer and make it easier for them rather than worry about implementing complicated concepts just to look cool. Very dissapointed. This could ahve been something.

I may have tried this years ago but forgot it and never did a deep dive. Now I am and can only say it is changing how I do things - almost everything. It wasn't until I dove in head first that I realized how it has simplified my schedule. And it is so flexible to your desired method of workflow - GTD, Kanban, whatever. Reading the guides and blogs really helped me. I have not used a program more consistently in years. I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks developers for a rich cross platform experience with near instantaneous syncing.

    • Great idea, too many bugs

Update: This rating became 1 star with time (started with 4). The most recent bug is when your Apple Watch is away from iPhone (connection lost) and you add tasks through audio they will disappear and will never get to Todoist.

I’m using the Premium subscription btw. The idea is great, the functionality is there, the set of features is just right! I use this software every day. The only BIG problem is bugs that pop up from everywhere with every update.

I mean it’s not the only bug. You never know what comes after the next update. Also the bugs are different on different platforms. Web version seems to work fine in most cases, while the most buggy is Windows version and macOS version is quite buggy. Apple Watch version is a disaster.
