Featured Content
  • Not very essentialist

The premise of this book is good but there are 3 main flaws. 1) a book on essentialism should not be 300 pages. This was 250 pages of fluff and the rest had some good stuff. 2) he spends a lot of time name dropping the people he’s worked with or helped, 3) it’s a very generic book. The amount of truly helpful content with a few illustrative examples could have fit into a pamphlet or a TED talk. Save your money and spend 1 full day away thinking and writing about what’s most important to you and how you’ll prioritize that in your calendar and you’ll have captured 99% of the potential of essentialism.

  • Lean for people

It is a particularly useful book. It says what most of us already know, removing from our life all the noise, excess of options, and prioritizing what really has value for us. As the author says, easier said than done, but it is a challenge with a reward at the end.
The book is split into twenty-one chapters, short chapters. It makes the ocasional read easier, maybe one per day, giving time to absorve the message.
It does not deep into scientific proofs of the proposed method but has a practical message all the time, something possible to apply now in our life.
As with all the contemporary books, lots of stories relating to the core message of the chapter. That's ok, it makes the book more credible and enjoyable to read. Who doesn't like a good practical story?
As a side note, in business there is a very well-known process, used by big companies, to improve the quality of work and therefore the quality of the products, called lean. I could not relate more the essentialism with lean and put it in one message: "remove the trash and noise from your life".

  • Book fell apart immediately!

The book is good but the binding is horrendous!! The first time I opened it, the cover separated from the spine, and the binding of the pages cracked so reading it is tricky. I messaged the seller and hope they will replace it!
