Like the headline says, it died one month after support ended. The Apple store wants $500, just to diagnose it. I wish I'd bought a windows laptop. At least they're easier to maintain and upgrade.
Been a long time Mac user. Have had many Macs. This is by far the loudest computer I've ever heard in my life. It sounds like a jet engine and I've even opened it and thoroughly cleaned the fans and internals. I cannot believe this is still being sold for 1400 on amazon. Core audio issues in the first 4 months with cracking popping and freezing, slightly fixed in the newer updates. Overall for whatever reason, my 2012 MacBook Pro gave me less issues and had less fan issues. In 2023, nearly 2024 now, if you're shelling 1400 for an intel Mac that's value is quickly depreciating then you're making a bad decision. Get any base m1 Mac over this. Even on local selling websites like offerup or marketplace you can find a deal for $500 for an m1 or 800 for an m2. Please don't get this and do this to yourself lol
Extremely disappointed in the durability of the product. It doesn't work any more. It didn't last two years. According to technical assistance, the motherboard and touch ID burned out. I have a Dell laptop from 2017 (which was extremely cheap) that still works today. The Dell survived several things that this one didn't even dreamed about because this one was always at home and on high support.
My Macbook Pro broke down out of nowhere after just 3 and 1/2 years. Stupidly, I bought coverage that conveniently expired 6 months before it broke, and I cannot even return it.
One would think that for this price, apple would make a better product? But, no!
Please look at my laptop! It is brand new! I never even have taken it out of the house. The power cord was always connected to a ground safety cord, and when not in use the laptop was disconnected from power.
I had it diagnosed and it seems that the 'built-in board' containing the hard drive must be replaced all together: for $750+labor.
Stop buying macs. Apple will not honor their mistakes for their outrageously expensive products.
first one / apple mac , love it , fast clear running
Terrible. My father opened this for Christmas and it would not charge past 5%. We did the trouble shooting steps and it still did not work. We have other Macs and so we hanged power chords, and outlets just to make sure it was the computer. An error maintenance message came up after trying to charge it for a few hours. Apparently products don't undergo a quality control inspection before sending them out. My father was excited and when he opened it he plugged the computer in and started to charge it. He didn't realize there was something wrong, and so he started to download and transfer his items. He left, took a nap and when he came back he noticed the computer hadn't charged. He unplugged it and tried a different charger, but the computer turned itself off. It took a while to get it back on, and it took us several hours to try and wipe the items hard drive in order to send it back. Quite the Christmas day disaster.
