Rosemary and Rue, the first book in the October Daye series, receives mixed reviews from readers. Many appreciate the imaginative urban fantasy setting that weaves fae lore into a modern San Francisco backdrop, highlighting complex characters and solid world-building. However, some critiques focus on the protagonist, Toby Daye, describing her as overly passive and prone to injury, which diminishes her strength as a character. While several reviews commend the intricate plot and engaging story, others point out pacing issues and excessive information dumping. Overall, readers express a willingness to continue with the series due to its potential for growth and deeper character development in subsequent books.

Loved the character development worked into the detailed plot. Something is still wrong but I guess I'll have to find that out in the next book.
There are lots of good plot twists to keep you thinking. I'll move on to the next book in the series.
So different than what I usually read and completely not what I expected. I want more of October Daye's story.
I had to read this for a college course. It was good, but overly descriptive. The bad guy is easy to figure out "in my opinion". I still loved it because I enjoy anything to do with the fae.
Lots of complex emotions in this story, well told.
I've read the series to date, and decided to read again, it's better the second time.
Excellent stories, and she KNOWS her FOLKLORE!!!
