This set works exactly as designed. Be sure to put some Grease on the threads before starting. You can depress a spring safely in about 30 seconds.
This spring compressor is great! I was super apprehensive about the first coil I did, but the second was fast and easy. It seems much safer than the standard compressor that we are all used to. The large set of seats in the kit are perfect for a truck size coil. It’s a really good design. Definitely worth the money.
Used this on my Polaris RZR to change some warn out springs. Made it safe and easy.
By far the safest spring compressor that I’ve used. Sure, shops have wall mounted units that are amazing, but for the home mechanic these are it. Build quality is excellent and you’ll notice how heavy duty it is immediately. Drive screw doesn’t get in the way either. Worth the extra $$$ over twin drive screw types.
Although this tool is pretty beefy, it could not handle compressing the front springs for my 2012 minivan without binding on the main post and losing threads when hand cranking with a 10" breaker bar to compress the springs. It may be decent for lesser work, but i would not waste your money on it. I'm past my returns and I'll have to take the hit and warn the rest of you off.
Used to change out front struts on 2018 GMC Sierra- compressed the springs with no problem- no impact needed, only a 1/2” drive ratchet and socket. Grease threads and slide with every use and it’ll do its job smoothly
