This book is a classic self-help read that explores the power of faith and positive thinking. It offers practical advice on how to reinforce faith in your mind and overcome doubt and negative emotions. While it has religious undertones, it can still be beneficial for anyone with an open mind. The book is beautifully produced and part of a series of non-fiction classics published by Capstone.

Very good read
Defiantly worth a read.
I wouldn't consider this an essential read for most people, but it is a great way to practice and learn about how to reinforce faith in your mind. Even if you are not religious, being able to have faith in something is a very powerful driver for fighting off doubt and negative emotions. So I would read it with an open mind to interpretation.
Also, love the sleeves and style these publishers pick for their books. They look great on the bookcase together.
Great book
I love this book so much it is very uplifting I have read it over three times trying to put to use the ideas in this book in my life has been great ever sense
I really enjoyed reading this book. Easy reading. Good size of letters. It kept me entertained and helped me thinking about my life and my decisions.
Great weapon
I loved it and hated it at exactly the same time. It’s interesting conceptually, and certainly puts forward some ideas and concepts that could help people - encapsulated very bluntly, you can change your attitude even when you can’t change your mind.
However, I hated it because I think in a way it genuinely coaches manipulation. Highlighting how some minds think ironically plays in to its own theories on confirmation bias, and instead of trying to hear what we want to be told, it coaches people to believe this is solely how life is and so ‘willing the way you want life to be’ disregards a lot in terms of being good and respecting others. I did really like it, but a tiny thing within it and the ideas it puts forward, made me uneasy.
This book IS a classic that doesn't need any particular sort of introduction. I am a fan of the Capstone productions and have most of their classics. This book is to their standard high quality. They look elegant on shelves and are cleanly produced and edited. An excellent addition to anyone's personal library.
This is one of a series of non fiction classics published by Capstone. All the books in this series are hardbacks each with a half size colourful book/dust jacket. This book measures 19.58 cm in height x 12.78 cm in width and contains 216 pages. It is printed on a good quality paper using a clear to read type face.
Tom Butler-Bowdon is the author of the 50 Classics Series and he has written the introduction tho this book. He is also the series editor of the Capstone Classics of which this book is one.
Florence Scovel Shinn (September 24, 1871 in Camden, New Jersey – October 17, 1940) was a book illustrator and an artist with a passion for life philosophy and spiritual advice. She became a New Thought spiritual teacher and metaphysical writer in her middle years and she wrote this book (which was her first and in certain circles her most influential book) in 1925.
'The Game of Life' is one of the few classic texts that is considered to be relevant even today, after so many years.
I must admit this was an interesting read, spiritual and quite religious at times. The idea presented in this book is that if you view your life as a game which has rules for you to follow you will have less stress and be happier and more successful. If you manage to attune yourself with these principles and laws, you can easily create a better reality for yourself and achieve the “square of life”, which consists of the four focal points that make up your life: wealth, health, love and self-expression. That by shaping each of these parts of your life, the way you want to, will ultimately result in a memorable and happy life.
The concepts discussed in this book include the law of expectancy, the divine pattern, the law of karma, the law of substitution, the power of words, the law of use, the law of forgiveness, the law of love, the law of use, and the law of non resistance.
Love life and life will love you back.
As I said earlier ... an interesting read. I'm not sure I believe in the laws of the universe but I must admit some of it makes sense.
A recommended read for anyone interested in things along the line of *The Law of Attraction* and similar.
I hope you found this review helpful.
This book is a very early version of self-help so it’s very interesting to see how the ideas in this book have carried through to the modern self-help books of today. Some of the ideas and philosophy is discussed are really relatable and applicable to current times and current ideas on things like self-improvement and self reflection.
There is an element on spirituality and also religion so I’d possibly avoid that if that isn’t something you’re into however if you’re able to keep an open mind this is a real classic and very interesting especially from historical point of view. It is also very easy to follow especially considering it was written such a long time ago.
The book itself is beautifully finished and is of a lovely high-quality hardback with a nice dust cover it looks very modern but classic. A good gift idea for those who like to read self-help books but haven’t come across a vintage one before.
now repeat after me “I will do a wonderful job for fantastic pay.” And within just a few weeks of saying and believing this, you will get a big fat raise. This is the divine right.
If only it was that easy. psssh
not for everyone.
A published classic, this book certainly looks attractive with a dark grey/black cover and bronze wraparound. The book was originally written by Florence Scovel Shinn (1871-1940) who was an artist/illustrator and then became a spiritual teacher.
For those who are familiar with the author or the book then this is a nicely presented version. However, do not expect a modern day motivational epic, it is not. The book has strong religious tones are would easily be dismissed by most e.g. the idea of healing yourself by loving one another.
A good presentation but understand before purchasing.
From the description this sounds like a very good book and exactly the type of book I would be intersected in. The description sells it to me exceptionally well and I was looking forward to having a read as soon as it arrived

Unfortunately what it fails to mention is that almost all of the examples/stories in this book revolve around religion and believing. Next to none of this is motivational unless you're already obsessed with religion and believing opportunities will just show up out of nowhere if you wish for them. I was hoping for more and would've settles with a few stories about God/Jesus/Praying but this is literally almost every single page
very inspiring book with lots of quotes to think about, very motivational and good especially during this times
This book is going to be interesting for anyone who has read and enjoyed The Secret, The Magic, titles similar to that which deal with a "law of attraction" or "cosmic ordering", anything which affirms perspectives that your "habits of mind" or what you consistently think, does not simply shape your character or establish psychological patterns but attracts certain things into your life.
It is a concept which I myself have been ambivalent about. To be frank I remain to be convinced on many of the points outlined in this book or similar books like it. It seems rather cruel to suppose that persons who have experienced misfortune are the most liable to further misfortune by virtue of some sort of determinism/fatalism. Or worse still that they actively "invited" it some how into their life in the first place.
There is also some sort of metaphysical/philosophical idealism central to the ideas, all is mind and nothing external to it actually exists. This could be as simple as what researchers call "confirmation bias", paying attention to anything and everything which supports your hypothesis/expectations/hopes and ignoring all evidence to the contrary. Or it could be something more, like what Darren Brown was scathingly critical of in his book Happiness, considering it comparable to "faith healers" and "confidence tricksters".
All that in mind, I found this an interesting book, its good to be able to trace the beginning of some of the thinking which is trending these days. Personally, I can see how many of the author's conclusions could be reached through observation, without much in the way of philosophical training or consideration of insights about logical fallacies, tricks of perspective or insights from psychology/psychoanalysis.
The book also includes background information and biographical information on the author in the introduction which is also interesting (more so, I thought, than some of the books actual content). It is a hardback with the title embossed/indented on the cover, its of a reasonably good quality and part of a series of books if you are inclined towards collecting books to a complete "library" of sorts. The "dust jacket", is half the size of the book it wraps around but provides detail about content, author and series editor.
This is mindless religious nonsense.
If the author were alive today, she would surely be a televangelist.
Apparently, £3000 will turn up at your house in the matter of a couple of days if you believe it will...
Pure fantasy.
A very informative book I really do admire it and I feel like it's very beneficial for anyone who wants to learn about this and it's very helpful to get a greater understanding on the topic of this book and I believe that anyone reading this would gain some form of knowledge and I think that's the most important thing because knowledge do come from books and reading and I like the way it came as well the packaging was amazing I really admired it and it's definitely a good read so far and I haven't had any problems with it because I do admire it and the way the author had gone about presenting the information has been quite unique and different and I've got to give it to them it's a brilliant book!
I didn't order this so when it arrived I thought it was fate and I should read it. It hasn't changed my life but I have enjoyed reading it. The language is rather old fashioned and the author if she is to be believed has helped people to realise their own strengths even to the point of recklessness. The premise is that God/the universe will provide if you truly believe which is quite a modern concept. Or alternatively if you act like a winner you will win. Can't really argue with her even though she sounds awfully prim and bossy.
An amazing book to read. It is full of a life examples, with explanations . Interesting and very easy to read. I think it is perfect for those who are still looking for some answers, this book is a combination of life and beliefs. I'm definitely recommending this book.
This book provides some incredible information that anyone would find helpful. The forward by Tom Butler-Bowden is well written and provides a good solid framework of context.

These cards by Louise Hay are heartwarming and provide a sense of love and self-worth. They are highly recommended for personal growth and reflection. The colourful cards come in a nice presentation box, but there have been some issues with misprinted cards. Overall, they are positive, helpful, inspiring, and full of wisdom for daily thoughts and self-talk.
