    Classic quality of National Geographic publications with dramatic and diverse photography and copy that is both enjoyable and informative. The foreword by Adam Sakura adds a nice touch. Kate Siber writes engaging and descriptive introductions to each hike and provides critical details (distance, best time to go, length of trip, difficulty) Novices will appreciate some of the packing information. Display it on the coffee table and you’ll find yourself picking it up frequently to dream of and plan your next adventure.

      Beautiful book with gorgeous photographs. The only issue I have with it is that a lot of these hikes are for very experienced hikers only. There's not a whole lot that's suitable for more casual hikers.

    • beautiful pictures. Causes a need to hike at least some of these trails

      bought this book for my two hiking sons. They were pleased with it. I snuck a big peek at them before I gave them the books. Some of the hikes will be doable for us but I enjoyed looking at the pictures and descriptions of the ones unlikely for me.

      My review is based on the cover and a quick glance through the pages. It does not come in plastic (nor does it claim to), and it was just tossed in a box, but despite that, the cover, corners, and spine looked fine. This is a gift to someone who loves to travel.

      I'm sure this may be a good read but I was looking for the best hiking routes. This is more of a story with pictures of the people who are hiking. The book is hard back and is good quality but not what I was looking for.

      I want to travel to each of these places, to see them for my self and take my own pictures.
      I want to hike North America, snapping pictures of beautiful animals, plants, flowers, mountains and lakes.
      What a beautiful world.

    • Great to inspire trip ideas!

      I gave this as a gift. I looked at it in the store first to see what was included inside. It has beautiful pictures, recommendations where and what to look at and what time of year is best. After my brother in law opened it we found my father in law looking through it over the travel book his wife got him lol. I am also kind of wanting to buy it for myself at some point.

      This is not a " Cocktail Table" book. Very inspirational, I was ready to start packing for far off places off the beaten track and that was after the first dozen pages. National Geo. does not disappoint

      I gave this book to my brother, a landscape photographer and hiker, for his birthday. He loves the book and the photos. It includes hikes in other countries he's always wanted to do and well as some he hadn't entertained before reading about them in this book.
