  • Plagiarism Clothed in Self-Aggrandizement

    This may be one of the only books that I've thrown in the trash after I read it. The book essentially takes a lot quotes from other sources and wraps them in author's narcissism and braggart. There is vey little that is original or even helpful to the seasoned mind, business of otherwise. Bet David rather than an expert on business comes across as an angry egomaniac trying to get back at a world that he feels has not been fair to him. See you money on this one and invest in business books that will change the way you think about and approach business, life and nurture a healthy attitude on how we can serve and make contributions to those we work with and for.

  • Would have been much better if it had been 30 pages, as opposed to nearly 300 pages.

    The author wrote far too much extraneous detail. This book would have been far more useful (to me) had it been condensed down to 30 pages, as it would have been more succinct, which would have made for a quicker read, which would have improved the book's efficiency. Interestingly, he has an entire section about how to improve speed, execution, and efficiency; advice that he apparently did not heed when writing this book. A "Cliff Notes" version of this book would be more valuable, less painful to read, and less time wasted to read. He should fire his editor.

    I have never read a book more than once until now. Such an essential asset to add to your repertoire if you are someone looking to master life & business. The correlations between business strategy and chess is brilliant. We should always be a few steps ahead. This book will truly sharpen your way of thinking & give you very practical advice to running your life as a boss.

  • Rehashing ideas from top business books with little value added

    “Your Next Five Moves” isn’t a terrible book, but I would not recommend it to anyone who has read many business books. This book does not deliver novel ideas, unless you count ordering and summarizing ideas from books such as “Blue Ocean Strategy”, “4-Hour Work Week”, “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, and “Intrapreneuring” as novel. I was upset at how few of the ‘ideas’ he presents were credited to their original authors. The lack of honesty -portraying all these ideas as his own - really made me doubt the character and of the author.

    The book might be a good gift for someone new to the world of business and personal success, but I found myself cringing at stolen ideas which were not credited. Half way through I found myself speed reading to get to something I didn’t know… which I very rarely found.

    The book seems geared toward those with very little experience and self-understanding. I actually think it would be a great book for a young person who hasn’t had the chance to read and reflected on their life. If you are looking for a beginner guide to becoming successful, this book might be for you. If you have read four or five business books and thought about the material, this book will be more of a shallow recap of other’s ideas.

  • Business principles to live by

    I went to school for business , this book does an amazing job to summarize the fundamentals of business strategy without needing to attend a university. Patrick is such a great leader and communicator this book evidently reflect that . A must have for any leader , entrepreneur, or student .
