A walking or biking tour are an excellent way to learn about Ho Chi Minh City. The local guides are knowledgeable and passionate about their city and will take you to top destinations like the War Remnants Museum, Chinatown market and local cultural highlights. Learn about Vietnam's history, the war, and the country's cuisine firsthand with Ms. Tu's cooking class. The tours are highly recommended, with Kevin and Dickens named as some of the best local guides available.

I took two classes with Ms Tu and loved it !David, his nephew, was an amazing guide who taught me a lot about Vietnamese daily life, culture and cuisine and Ms Tu is a lovely lady and very skilled cook. I had a lot of fun spending time with them both in their family home. The food we prepared was of course delicious. A variety of every-day life dishes which you would not usually find in restaurants.Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to step out of the traditional tourist map. Many thanks to Kevin from Saigon Wow Tours for managing the whole thing.
Wow, just wow! If you're looking for a walking tour of Saigon, stop looking, you've found it. Our group of 8 had an epic time with Kelvin and Pumpkin. These guys know their stuff and they're fun to hang out with too! They also took a bunch photos of us as we were walking with their own camera and then shared the photos with us. This was a very nice touch! We learned loads about the city, but it didn't feel like a history lesson - more like exploring with a couple of friends who happen to be local experts. Kelvin loves answering questions about Saigon, so come armed with your curiosities.Oh, and shout out to Kevin who checked in with me over Whatsapp after the tour. I didn’t feel great and had to leave the tour early while my group continued. Kevin followed up to check-in on me and see if there’s anything they can do to help. Great customer service right there! So yeah, 5-star recommendation from us. This tour company rocks and you'll definitely have a good time hanging out with the guides and exploring the city!
Dickies was a really friendly tour guide who showed us around the main sight seeing sights. He provided some really interesting information on the sights and the architectural history. He is also very knowledgeable on Vietnam’s history and even shared a story about his Grandpa. We felt very safe walking the streets and would recommend him to anyone for this tour!
I was solo in HCMC for a long layover and this tour was an exceptional way to get an introduction to the city!Peter met me near the food tour start and took me to some amazing spots offering delicious tastes of Vietnam! He asked about any allergies and my preferences, goals in the tour, and comfort throughout the experience. In addition to the specific food descriptions, Peter tied in the history of Vietnam to the differences in cooking styles and flavors. He talked about his experience growing up and his family's cooking style in regard to our dishes. The food was amazing: savory pancakes, fried dumplings, local vegetables, authentic pho, spicy bahn mi, amazing coffee and lychee ice creams, sugar cane and calamansi drink, everything was so delicious and well balanced.Peter was friendly and really helped me understand and appreciate the food styles as well as introduced me to the history of some of the city.Thank you again Peter for a great tour! I can't wait to come back and explore more!
Great concise tour, our guide Dickies was a col guy and very knowledgeable. Enough time to go through the war remnant museum, a good history of the independence palace, Saigon Notre dame and french post office, finished with a nice coffee on the publishers street. Good value, nice group!
Had a great tour with Alex who is an amazing tour guide. Very passionate, perfect English, respectful and extremely informative. Shared with us so many stories and perspectives of HCM and Vietnam that we will never hear of, if not on this tour. Answered all of our questions and honestly was more like a friend than a tour guide! Went above and beyond our expectations and very thankful for the experience. Highly recommended and please request for Alex!
Make sure to book your tour early morning or late afternoon. The sweltering heat on an April afternoon can dampen the whole experience. It was an informative tour where the tour guide will generously share stories that or may not be part of the official records. The War Remnants Museum is specifically poignant as it tells the uncomfortable side of the war.The French/Chinese influence is very much felt around the city, from the architecture, food, words, and persuasions. The post office is interesting but very tourist-y. Spend some time admiring the local handicrafts and send a postcard to your loved ones, anywhere in the world. End the trip with a short walk of the book street and see locally published books. Overall, it was okay. I appreciate the stories and the personal attention provided by the team even before the actual tour. They readily answer your questions and will keep in touch as the trip nears. Best if tour guides can suggest proper photo spots and the best ways to take photos in this often-photographed location.
Kevin was a fabulous local guide. Personable and provided some interesting perspective. Recommend this tour.
Dickies was very knowledgeable and was friendly. We had a great time walking around the main sites in HCM city. We highly recommend the tour.
Kevin was a wonderful guide and was very sensitive to my needs and feelings. He was especially compassionate reguarding the War Remnants Museum which I really appreciated. It was a great walking tour and felt more like spending time with a friend instead of being a part of a tour. I definitely recommend!
We had a nice orientation walk around the heart of Saigon with Kevin. He was easy to communicate with, took great photos of us, and pointed out the main sights in the core area.
Had a lovely day with Kevin (our guide) and a couple from Singapore. We met at the opera house where we were picked up by car taxi to the war museum. After the emotional museum tour, Kevin showed us some pictures iconic to the war, not shown at the museum. I was blown away by the Vietnamese people's ability to forgive... During my stay in Vietnam I also learned they are very caring and welcoming people. We talked along the tour about Vietnam and the Vietnamese people, getting more insights about the history and culture. We visited the Notre Dame cathedral (the outside of it as it's being renovated), the palace of independence, the lovely postal office and the peaceful library street where we continued our conversations over a delicious Vietnamese coffee. Kevin also recommended us some places where we can eat good food. For me it was a lovely experience, thanks Kevin :)
Kevin is engaging and really knowledgeable. His English is great. He showed us a snapshot of Saigon in a morning. He talked about the war in a way we could engage with. His information in Saigon life was also great. This was a lovely way to close out our tour of Vietnam.
Kevin was my tour guide such an enthusiastic guy, he knows alot and will make you feel comfortable..
This was a really lovely three hour stroll around the main historical sights of HCMC. Kevin speaks great english and has lots of cool pictures to show you. An excellent tour to get your bearings, find out about Vietnamese and HCMC history, and finishes with coffee on book street. Note it is mostly a walking tour - we walked around 2.5km on pretty easy pavement. Highly recommended!
It was a great experience to be invited into a local household for cooking lessons in an original vietnamese kitchen. Great to buy the ingredients on the local market. The guides know all the ins and outs of the neigbourhood which only adds to the authenticity of the experience!! We had a great day.
My guide, Kevin, was really kind and helpful. He showed us some important points of interest and answered any questions I had.
Our guide Kevin had lots of knowledge about Ho chi minh history aswell as todays life in the city. He was able to discuse and see both side of history. He also shared stories about his private life. We will recommend this tour and specially Kevin. He was good in English, entertaining and full knowledge.
I hate to have to write this review. Our guide was super polite and friendly. I liked him. However the value of this tour isn’t close to being worth it. We had a group of 8. We paid $200 and didn’t exactly have a guid per se. We met at the Opera house. They got us into 2 cars and dropped us off at the War Remnance Museaum. The guide sat outside while we toured around. When we returned, the guide walked us to the Independence palace. He suggested that we don’t go in. We then walked to the Cathedral Notre Dame. It was being repaired. We could not go in. We then walked to the Post office, and again could not go in. We then walked down book street and had coffee. The tour was over. Please don’t waste your money on this one. I should have just taken a grab to the war museum and paid $2 for the tickets and then walked to the other places ourselves. What a waste of money.
My tour guide, Kevin was fabulous and provided a lot of information about thee various places we visited. It was very interesting to see the history of the war and we had hood discussion around it.
We really enjoyed the walking tour around the city. We learnt so much about its history, as well as great insights into today’s lifestyle. Kevin is knowledgeable, as well as entertaining, and a great host. I would really recommend this tour.
Kevin was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of the sites we visited. Would recommend this tour to family/friends.
I highly recommend the walking tour with Kevin. Upon meeting Kevin for our tour, he discussed the itinerary and informed us that he can take all of the pictures on his phone which he will text to us at the tour conclusion. Kevin had a taxi ready to take us to our first tour stop. We walked to the next tour locations after the first tour stop. Kevin was flexible regarding the time we spent at each location. He was accommodating in taking any and all pictures when requested. Kevin possessed a deep understanding of the tour stops. His descriptions of the events made them come to life for me. Kevin was attentive to our needs by providing water, shaded areas for viewing/discussions, and perfectly timed resting spots doing the walking tour. I appreciated all of the extra information Kevin provided, such as; how to cross the busy streets, places to visit, and common phases to know in the local language. Kevin and the tour are highly recommendable. I encourage all visiting Ho Chi Minh City to complete this tour with Kevin! I plan on contacting Kevin when I visit Ho Chi Minh City in the future with my husband! Kevin is not only a great tour guide but a genuine and friendly person.
Had an absolutely fantastic time with Dickens! We started out on his bike for a short journey to the War museum where I entered and had a look for about an hour. We then met up again after my time at the museum and walked around the city center and Dickens let me know about the history of Vietnam. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about history. The tour guide’s english is very good and he is friendly and approachable. He also gave me suggestions about what to do after the tour ended. Keep up the excellent work!
Our guide was Shane, was fantastic and took us on an informative tour of some of the main sites in district 1, plus took us by cab to district 3 where we visited the oldest coffee shop in vietnam, plus got to go in the back of the shop and see how it was made which was pretty cool to see. Shane was very kind, genuine, and more than happy to recommend us his favourite restaurants/bars in HCMC. We enjoyed it more than the 'free tours' we've taken so far and would definitely do it again!
Our tour guide was Kim or Kevin, and he was excellent. He's full of energy and we learnt a lot about Vietnam and the war in one short morning. He didn't walk too quickly for my mum (71). There were a nice range of stops.
Loved seeing the market and grabbing our food to cook! Good show all around. Most enjoyable. Friendly people. Fun!
Wonderful Time! We had a lovely time cooking with Ms. Hoa! From the time we booked, there was wonderful communication. When we were picked up, the fellows were great conversationalists…telling us all about the areas of Ho Chi Minh City and the differences between them. Off to Chinatown and the market! What an experience that was…smells, sights and sounds. Then to Ms. Hoa’s for class. Very authentic menu, in a very traditional kitchen. It was an amazing experience!
Kevin and crew were exceptional in their planning, humor, English language skills and willingness to share their culture and traditions of 3 generations. We shopped at the wet and dry street market for the cooking ingredients. The 4 of us were prompted to request in Vietnamese the different quantities and goods to buy. Great immersion into the local market and people. Cooking, slicing and dicing with Ms Hoa and aunties was fun and I will bring home techniques to try in my kitchen. We feel honored that they opened their home and life to us. This is a true cultural experience. Don’t pass it up!
I had an excellent guide. I would highly recommend him but i would not recommend this tour. It’s wildly overpriced for what it is. While there are six stops on the tour, only one requires an entry fee and I believe it’s $2 USD. All other sites are free to access and super close to each other so you’ll be able to navigate easily. Also, our stop At the war museum (only paid site) was limited to 1hour. I (and others in my group) could have used more time given the amount of info and the number of people (it was a bit crowded). Also, that the palace, we stood outside the gates and didn’t go in. For the price of $27USD (as of 10/2022) I would have been happier running through the itinerary on my own time.

Sheraton Hotel Lobby Bar in Saigon offers delicious food, great service, and a warm atmosphere. The staff, including Anh Tran, Loc, Truc, Nghi, and Miss Quỳnh, are friendly and attentive. The menu includes a variety of dishes and beverages, and the cakes and tea are particularly tasty. The lounge is a perfect spot for business meetings or relaxing with friends. Overall, it is a highly recommended place to visit in Saigon.
