It was a great read. The author was very clear and concise. Sherwette's personality shines through every chapter.
I have learned a lot and will reread this book until I memorize it. (No joke)
Highly recommend it!
This is a great book for people new to the world of product, or for those who would like a refresher. It’s easy to read and understand, and I appreciate the examples the author gives because they’re often from the context of the middle-east (Dubai). It’s great to finally read a book about product that isn’t from California with only American examples. I also like that it’s from the perspective of a woman, because of the examples, too.
All in all, useful and entertaining.
Running across this title when looking for more insight into product/service development, I decided to give it a try. I had read books such as Levesque’s “Ask,” which I had not known this author refers to in her text (see my review), I was looking for a source that provided more specificity around clarifying, fashioning, or revising one’s offerings. In Sherwette Mansour’s narrative, I found the kind of systematic approach that could be of benefit to someone like me and others not as familiar with putting together these important elements of marketing in different parts of the world.
More specifically, the book consists of a Foreword, Letter to the Reader, How This Book Works and 9 chapters. The chapters clearly explicate the contents and flow of the narrative, namely: (1) Who Do You Want to Serve? (2) What Do They Want to Do? (3) Why Do They Want to Do It? (4) What Is Stopping Them? (5) What Problem Are You Helping Them Solve? (6) How Does Your Product Compare to Other Products on the Market? (7) How Are You Going to Help Them? (8) Are You Really Helping Them? (9) Do They Know About Your Product? There are also Final Words, Acknowledgements, and an Author Bio.
Parts of the book that stood out for me were those that emphasized the importance of clarifying one’s customer and their real desire. For instance, quoting Model T auto innovator Henry Ford (in Kindle Location 721) as saying “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses,” Sherwette stresses the need to ‘dig deep’ in understanding consumer motivation and behavior. Reflecting her consulting background, it clearly shows in the author’s use of charts and maps to lay out her method which are particularly helpful. Among these aides are the Persona Card with Behavioral Desires, Needs, Jobs, and Challenges (Location 511), the Empathy Map (Location 534), The 5 Whys Technique Mind Map (Location 1435), Competitive Comparison Chart (Location 2381), Current vs. Future Customer Journey (Location 2604) and Journey Step Examples (Location 2664), Digital Products chart (3031), and Content Bridge diagram (3281). Inclusion of other authors’ work also brought to mind such books as ,” Osterwalder et al’s “Value Proposition Design: How to Create Products and Services Customers Want” and Christensen et al’s “Seeing What’s Next” (see my reviews).
In terms of drawbacks, the book’s examples while aiding the advised walk through of the method were a bit simplistic at times. It was probably just as well to fully grasp the steps, but they were quite ironic for me as a western male reader. At this time when there are protests in Iran which began when a woman accused of improper hajib wear died in custody and Afghan women were banned from higher education and working for NGOs. Given such circumstances, I could not seem to put aside the author’s concern with her hair as a woman from Cairo and now living in Dubai in contrast to those constrained in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). As I read, I recalled Shirky’s mention of the Arab Spring in his “Here Comes Everyone” and Adichie’s treatment of hair products and related on-line business in her ”Americanah” (see my reviews). It is good to remember there are those like Ms. Mansour in the Middle East who have had and been able to take advantage of their opportunities to advance personally and professionally.
Even with my own distractions, I came away believing Ms. Mansour’s book can be a useful resource for people like myself who are wanting to deal with “Why No One Is Buying Your Product.” That is, those who are currently creatives, more scholarly, public service and/or social mission oriented may also find value in such an approach.
There is nothing new here; this is a summary of information here and there, I think this is helpful for people who wants to read 1 marketing book instead of several ones about different topics. I like the format, easy to read, short paragraphs, easy language, bullets, use of bolds… very fresh book with easy to follow images.
I am glad I came across your book, it's a good resource. I learnt a lot of techniques that I am planning to implement after December's silly season. I feel confident that I will do a great job on my business. Next year is for product development. I would like to know, is there an audible version of the book coming? I will buy your book for 5 of my friends if you release an audiobook version.
Thanks

A must read for anyone remotely involved in sales of any kind. Easy to read and well-written.
Such valuable information!
This book is a great step-by-step guide. It has easy-to-understand business concepts and action steps to take. Perfect for a beginner or a novice that wants a different perspective!
I picked this up because I’m always curious of people who see products and how they feel about them good enough to sell. As a business owner myself, I hear or read it all the time. What’s so great about this author is that she also display ways to not only know a good product to sell, but to also spend time in marketing. It’s no longer, “if you build it – they will come!” Ideas and passion are just the beginning – getting people to see and know the product is another. Job well done on this author giving chapter by chapter. I recommend this book!
Real-world examples make this book easy to follow and understand; it is not just theory. Graphics and diagrams broke up the text and kept my interest throughout the book.
The author helps the reader to think about the answers to the following questions:
1. Identifying and understanding your customer.
2. What your customer wants to do better and faster.
3. What motivates your customer's actions.
4. Understanding your customer's challenges and pain points.
5. How are you going to solve customers' problems.
6. How do your products compare to the competition.
7. How to build customers for the long term.
8. How to test if there is demand for your product or service.
9. How to fit your message to match your customer's desires.
Sherwette brilliantly codified the entire process of product design and deployment from ideation to launch into 9 simple steps, if taken you are taking your product to a whole new level!
As a product manager, I had a lot of Aha moments as I relate to many of the things mentioned in the book but with a new perspective.
References, examples and even quizes mentioned in this book were enjoyable to read and also helped me digest the new concepts and excited me to apply the tricks!
Sherwette is brilliant. There is something in this book for everyone. I was fortunate enough to be able to connect with the author. She made chapter highlights for me so I could have curated the perfect reading time for my business goals. She clearly has done her research, thoroughly compiled recommendations, and thoughtfully considered everything.

Comprehensive marketing guide. Each chapter concludes with a quiz to self-check comprehension, answers for understanding and a summary to act on information in the chapter. Great information to have when determining your target market and how to be of service.

If you are selling something it behooves you to give the utmost attention to how to get people to buy it. And if they’re not buying, there’s a reason. At least, that is the premise behind Why No One Is Buying Your Product: 9 Steps to create products and services that customers love, sell more, and increase profits by Sherwette Mansou. “Most new products don’t survive,” warns Roger Dooley asks in the foreword. “Only one in twenty succeed.” But what of the other 19, he asks? What went right with the one that did not go so well for the majority? Mansou identifies that customers need to feel engaged with what you’re selling. In her words, they need to feel as though they have “sin in the game”. Her book is not rocket science, but it’s sensible and methodical. If these are topics you’ve been giving thought to, you will find much her to be inspired by.
The book is pretty bold and straightforward, it is a mix between a marketing course and pep talk. Overall, there are some helpful bits of advice throughout the book.
I don't want to give anything away so just read this book! :)
Very handy, compact, and impactful playbook for developing new products and services. I found the Quizfunnel at the start of the book to be perfectly in sync with the context of the book. Btw my product ideation avatar is "The Artist" :)
The author def knows what she's talking about. I would def consider working with her for my future projects. Highly recommended!
Cheers!
I did not know these numbers were so high: 11 out of 12 startups fail, and 19 out of 20 product innovations fail.
This practical guide will help you create products and services that buck the odds and succeed in the marketplace.
Sherwette summarizes many different ideas, theories and principles of product design and marketing as a guide for product developers. She uses many examples and stories to clarify her points. This is a useful reference for understanding why a product may not be selling as well.
Like the title suggests, this book helps you answer the question "why is no one buying my product??" The author presents all the information in a rather casual (and sometimes witty) tone, which makes this book quite enjoyable to read. It goes into how to identify potential customers, how to research and understand them, and how to identify and decipher their triggers and motivations. For me, I found this helpful in understanding why my sales (for an online shop) were not as good as other shops, so I would recommend a read if you are in a similar situation.
This book is an actual step by step guide on what you need to do to ensure your product is a success with customers, whether it’s a digital or physical product, or even a service you’re providing. And if you don’t have a product or service yet, but you’re working on an idea, THIS IS ALSO FOR YOU. It will help you along the journey to creating it and putting it out in the market.
Let me explain why this book is better than anything else out there.
In this book, you not only get the expert advice and direction on which of the best in class practical tools out there you should be using, but you also get the applied real world examples to better understand how they can help you for every new concept introduced, including illustrations that help you visualize them (which I found incredibly useful), a quiz at the end of each section that confirms you’ve taken away the key messages, as well as a checklist to make sure you’re on the right track in applying the knowledge! Written in the most easy to understand language. THIS IS ALL IN ONE PLACE. I cannot stress enough on how helpful this is! Reading this book will save you so much time, energy and money.

The assortment of baklava is wonderful and delicious, with a variety of flavors to enjoy. However, some pieces may be stale and not as tasty. The size of the baklava is small, but the taste is excellent. Overall, it is a great product for gifting or treating yourself.

These pillows are comfortable and provide good support. However, some customers found them too firm and not cooling enough. The foam density is durable and the pillows are of nice quality. The pillows come in a set but may have varying heights. Standard pillow cases may be slightly large for them.
