Overall useful book on game design with politics, virtue signaling, terrible illustrations degrading the experience. Especially crappy choices for a book teaching design.

  • Why the hype?

The author has some interesting points on how learning and fun go hand in hand but this book is outdated. You can learn all of these concepts from YouTube. I feel cheated.... waste of money.

  • A Must Read!

If you want to make games of any kind, or want to learn to get the most out of the games you play, then you must read this book!
I gave it 4 stars because the author can be a little redundant and belabors some points a little too long... but MINOR criticism for a great read!

  • Badly formatted. Hard to read.

I couldn't read this book. I literally couldn't read past the bad formatting and the unnecessary cutesie graphics. Fortunately I checked it out of the library.

A very well written and attractive book, I read it in just three days everyday I spend about 8-10 hours for it. It describes lots of theoretical concepts, in art, media and entertainment in plain language.
