The B&G app for chart plotters receives negative feedback due to recurring glitches, difficulty in route creation, unreliable connectivity, and unresponsive customer support. Users express frustration over the app's poor performance, lack of essential features, and ineffectiveness in syncing with B&G instruments. Issues with route planning, frequent crashes, and download failures contribute to the app's overall dissatisfaction among sailors and boat owners.

I have B&G instruments on my boat and Iâm quite happy with them but the app is terrible. I really tried to like it since it has world wide coverage but trying to download maps for offline use is the worst experience. I also have the Navionics app and the downloads work like a charm. On B&G I have selected 3 areas I wanted to have as offline maps and they just wonât download to my iPad. I get to 10 to 20 percent before the download stops. All this is on a super fast Fios connection. Given these results, itâs utterly unusable while on passage trying to update maps on a cell connection or public wifi. This is a problem since I first downloaded the app 2 years ago. I tried deinstalling and reinstalling with no change.
Really disappointing and even support could not help me when I contacted them a year ago.
I really wanted this to work. Problems:
- doesnât synch from Zeus S to iPhone. After waiting 2 hrs to reach tech support, I was told that it will synch if both phone and Zeus are logged into a separate Wi-Fi system. Ug.
- measure distance feature would be great but it is wildly inaccurate. It says the distance from San Francisco to Seattle is 3800 feet.
-incredibly, the Create Route feature doesnât let you creat a route from your waypoints. Instead you just pick start and destination points and it creates a computer generated route. Useless.
- the weather forecast feature is sooo slow and doesnât indicate which weather model or source data is used. Since you evidently have to be on a Wi-Fi network to use it, youâ have much better options on the internet.
Love this equipment and app for our Tartan 33! Well organized, great trip and route planning on this app. Charts at your fingertips!
Itâs so sad that this app canât even use basic functionality to edit things like home location and weight points. You literally have to turn your phone sideways in order to go to the back button. When you try to send her the map for your home Harbor it offers you destinations about 20 miles away. Pay for a basic QA department.
We are now over a week with the app not working. Last update was June 23rd⌠whatâs going on B&G? This is becoming a little excessive!
I love being able to plan my route, waypoints and check the weather on my iPad in the cabin or home and sync to my Zeus3s at the helm.
