Singer Stitch Sew Quick Portable Sewing Machine: Mixed Reviews and Poor Build Quality

This is my second purchase of this machine. I only need one for occasional mending hems or simple sewing. The first one was ok for a few month then the bobbin case kept catching thread and jumbled up. I decided to get a replacement. This one is a total disappointment. The top thread would not function right doesn’t matter how I tried to adjust anything for hours. Just a piece of junk. I returned it to get a different sewing machine!

Bought it for my new daughter in law. She was so excited and used it twice but the needle broke and knocked the timing off with the bobin within 6 months. Trying to see if it's under warranty...but idk. I wouldn't buy this again

This machine is so poorly made. Inside mechanism is made of plastic gears. I have had it less than a yr and only used it twice before it broke on me. I made sure to only use light fabrics just cotton knit and had so many tension problems before it finally stopped working. The place where the bobbin sits doesn’t turn as the top need comes down and since it’s all plastic there isn’t much you can do to fix these gears without it breaking more. It’s not worth the repair cost to even fix this. shame on singer for putting their name on this big piece of junk.

This machine works amazing for a new beginner who’s looking to hem some pants or fix some shirts

It keeps braking from a roll that moves the needle. Not very good quality or just not that heavy duty.

First review This machine box had been opened previously...not new. Returned and will reorder.
Second review 5/11/23. Received my reordered machine all OK.
The machine works quite well but I think it would be difficult for someone who has never operated a sewing machine before to get all the instructions without pulling your hair out ; If you are mechanically inclined you may be able to do it OK. I hope it works for a long time and doesn't give me any trouble. It's made well although the foot pedal isn't quite what I have been used to...it's pretty small, but I'll probably get used to it. The stitch size/design adjuster is great...very helpful. The hardest part of threading the machine is figuring out the thread guide on top, and threading the bobbin. If you have used a sewing machine before it probably won't be too hard. I use only the large type rolls of thread and it does work ok with them. The first thing I tried was the bobbin winder to be sure that worked and it does. There is only (1) speed, and that speed is acceptable for sewing anything...not too fast & not too slow. There is a light on the machine but only comes on when the machine is plugged in...which is also fine. The worst part of the whole threading of the machine is the threading the needle after you finally get the thread down to it. The needle hole is from back to front and instructions say to thread it that way too. Getting the needle threader into that hole in the back of the needle was a challenge... But maybe the more I do it the easier it will be.

It has enough stitch settings to most basic tasks. Great starter machine. Not a powerful motor but has handled lite to medium tasks well.

Broke after 6 months of very little use. Tried to return but doesn't seem to be an option at this point. Very disappointment in Singer.

The machine looks great and all but bobin thread doesn’t pull the thread upwards. I had to return it.

I bought the machine in January and I haven't opened it until now, however, it doesn't work, the thread doesn't tighten well and it cuts, it can't sew.

in 1 hour use it got stuck on reverse stitching mode and everything went horrible ... it's not good for any simple work so don't buy it for any purpose ... singer used to b the top line of these machines and now it's so funny to come up with this type of low quality machines ... stay away and BEWARE from this machine as it's so weak and will get damaged in les than 2 hours work unless if you sewing napkins.

Christmas present to my mom, after 3 mos. the spindle broke that holds the bobbin for rethreading the needle.. now it's useless.. don't waste your money on these mini sewing machines.. I banked on the reputation of the Singer name for being around for years n for having quality.. that isn't the case no more, all company's now days are run by bean counters that look at numbers n have no idea how thing are built and only care about profit.. if ya keep them cheap , consumers will keep buying and accept poor quality.. I'd give it no stars but have to give one in order for review to go thru

Perfect for mending, which is what it is advertised for. Never having used a sewing machine before, it did require some learning. I found the manual very helpful, but needed to supplement with some YouTube videos. The Singer company produces some very helpful products along this line.

 No me gusto, no pude dar una sola costura porque parte el hilo de inmediato, la probé de mil maneras, le coloqué el hilo siguiendo paso a paso el manual, cambié varias veces el hilo y jamás logró dar una puntada, no pierdas tiempo con la máquina , busca otra

I couldn’t even use it once because the machine jammed . I had to return it. Sewing machines are not built the way they used to be

This machine is far superior to the other junky small machines that you could choose. My 12 year old figured it out quickly and can easily carry it to her sewing class. We couldn't be happier with it.
