Light weight but sturdy. Great tension. Good machine. I had a White for 60 years and loved it. This Singer is very good and does all I need. I sew clothing, dolls and quilts.

Never was able to get it to work…Took it to professionals who could not accomplish that either. Bad wasted money & investment… Just gave it away to strangers as I got frustrated & had no idea how to return it or get it to work….

A lady at Joanne's suggested this online model even over the ones on sale in her store. I'm very happy!

The needle bar had to be adjusted before it was usable. Took me over two hours and lots of frustration to figure out. Try checking your product settings next time!

Gave this a gift and the sewer is very experienced and loves it.

I absolutely HATED the "directions" it gave as I felt it was written by someone interpreting a cave drawing into words about something they knew nothing of...i had to go online to find that BUT, the machine worked beautifully. I was able to sew up an entire Queen sized quilt in a day without an issue...well, mostly without issue...no matter how many times i wound and rewound that bobbin it went crooked but other than that flawless

Perfect for those who occasionally like to sew! The sewing hobbyist it meets all needs

The sewing machine does not thread properly and must be returned which is a hassle!

First sewing machine easy to use

I use to love singer. They have gotten cheap and I'm ready to switch to a Brother sewing machine.

Purchased a new sewing machine for my mom to replaced her 15 year old Singers that recently broke. She really enjoys using this machine. It’s easy to use and handle. The order arrived on time. The only con is that the cover for the bobbin is clear plastic instead of metal. It’s nice that you can see but also worried it might break. But so far so good.

It's only fair to say that I have a Singer machine made in 1950. It's all metal, heavy duty and so reliable. I decided to get a newer one for one reason only and that is because I needed a machine that would do a basting stitch. I opened the box and it is very lightweight. That's because it's mostly plastic. The light is a joke. It is so dim! I used an auxiliary lamp just to see. The needle threader is another miss. It was easier for me ( I'm 70) to just thread the needle manually. It is very noisy compared to my older machine...very noisy. It sounds cheap. I was hoping to love this machine but for the need of only one stitch it's not worth it. Back it goes.

I wanted something cheap/simple to hem my jeans and other small denim things like sewing repairs into the crotch area.

This machine did the job! As far as sewing machines go, it's dead simple. Really not much different than the last sewing machine I touched in middle school 20 years ago in an extracurricular class.

The machine powered through the rolled up side seam of my selvedge denim jeans (something that was impossible on a weaker machine).

It sews pretty fast, though not any faster than I remembered.

It has this one "needle threader" tool, which is actually pretty useful!

Very disappointed. Had a singer for the past 15 years, thought I would upgrade. First, worked like a cloud! Smooth and soft. 3rd pice of cotton material (not heavy or complicated to sew) and started to jam... I tried everything. Retread, tension changes, needle replaced. Still jamming... No good help from singer. Just sad everythin we buy these days just don't work !! :/

In my opinion, SINGER brand sewing machines and products have lost their quality reputation. Owned a Singer machine that lasted over fifty years. My mom and Grandma owned Singer machines (Grandma had a treadle).
Bought this ‘heavy duty’ rated Singer machine to sew blue jean material. After sewing for about 20 minutes, the machine motor started clanging and clunking internally. Everything about it is cheaply made with plastic instead of metal, including inner parts and gears. Junk!
Also purchased some Singer brand straight pins, assuming I’m getting Singer good quality, but no. The straight pins were so flimsy that they bent going through jean material and the flat top on the pins are so tiny that they poke holes into my finger. Junk!
Apparently SINGER is more concerned about profits than quality. They’ve lost their grand reputation for quality, as far as I’m concerned.
Bought a Husqvarna Viking Emerald and I’m happy with the quality and price.

My wife absolutely loves this machine!
It does so much more then she could imagine.
Very sturdy and well made.

I got this for my daughter almost 2 years ago and she hasn't had one problem with it. She has her own business making custom clothing.

The machine I received already had thread on it and was clearly used before

Love this machine did not like it did not come with a manual. Who want to download a manual. Also a Spools of white bobbin thread was in the machine. Hope it was not used. Other than that sews like a dream

Unfortunately if you are clumsy like me you would spend majority of time just trying to fix the tangled thread. Tired of it..,returning ..

The directions are not easy to follow. Not well written or drawn. The threading also gets stuck during sowing. I l9st my patience, and its sitting in my bedroom for now ( bought it a month ago). I expexted much much better quality for this brand!! Singer is supposed to be a well know sowing company. I rather have my moms 70 years old sowing machine at this point!

This is the third singer that my mom owns. So she now how to sew previously. And she said this one is the best! Very sturdy, no manuals on the box, you have to go online, but we didn’t read it. She just figured it out with her previous knowledge. Was easy for her and she is not tech savvy. Comes with everything that you need.

Solid heavy duty machine. Bought this for bag making. Did not want to run down my machine I use for clothing. No instruction manual included but if you are experienced , threading the machine and figuring out the button hole making is pretty self explanatory. Foot pedal cord is very short and for that I gave 4 stars

Had it just for a few minutes.first thing I did when I received it I opened the pedal and brought down the speed from a 930 o'clock position to a 630. I knew this machine would fly as soon as I pressed the pedal so, with this adjustment I can sew very slowly and precisely. Then, I loaded 2 layers of 1mm leather (Herman Oak) and ran it under the needle and thread it came with. It went through the leather like it wasn't even there! I know it is not the most ideal test but, with a leather needle and a tex70 bonded nylon it should be able to punch through 4-5 mm of leather without breaking a sweat.
I would recommend this machine for leatherworking and stitching small items like wallets, clutches and purses. I seriously doubt it could stitch a saddle.
