i love this book alot, it is very helpful to me and has a good amount of pages to fill out. if youâre not able to pay for therapy or have no one to talk to then this book is definitely for you, i will say there are a lot of big words that i have no idea what they mean but thats just me. 4/5 stars because of the big words but this book is definitely really good and you should buy it
Got this book and itâs pretty bent up. Not going to return it for the simple fact that itâs an inconvenience on something that wasnât expensive. Iâll still use it but kinda disappointed in the shape itâs in.
I ordered a couple months ago and been wanting to start but for some reason been having anxiety just thinking about it. I finally took the leap and have done a couple pages and can tell that it will be beneficial on figuring out why I feel/do things I do. I can see it will help me understand where the emotions come from and give me a guide on what to do and how to avoid in the future!
It helps and guides very well.
Let me deinfluence you, what you see on tiktok is 90% of the book, it doesnt go much deeper, the pages that are shown are nearly the whole thing just screenshot it and fill it in. it doesnt go deeper into fixing the problems it just helps you address their existence, it might even make you create problems out of things that were not issues. you have to own your own let go and not let it define you this book will not give you much info or tips on how to do that or even tell you to do that. you wont get better unless you choose to this book will only help you go boohoo im the way i am because things happened to me. made me feel worse to bring up old memories that i had already moved on from.
My daughter was going through a bit of anxiety and thought this journal can help her cope with her emotions and express herself better.
Just received this after seeing it all over Tik tok. Loving all of the information so far as well as the journaling prompts. Easy, user friendly, and really gets you thinking
This was written by a someone in marketing, with no expertise in mental or spiritual health. Donât waste your time and find a journal written by someone who knows what theyâre talking about
The quality of the book seems great. I haven't read it yet, so I'll update after I know the content. However, the first thing I notice is I cannot find the author anywhere on or in the book. Seems odd
I get so many ads for this shadow work journal.
As someone who is currently studying to be a clinical social worker (ie therapist), please approach this with caution. I have found exactly zero empirical evidence to support that this journal is effective. It may work for some, but until there's research to support it, please exercise caution.
What I did find is that the author, keila shaheen, has a bachelors is marketing, psychology, and creative studies in texas. There appears to be zero experience in working with individuals and applying appropriate theories and interventions. Even with a bachelors in psychology, that is simply not enough to create a new "intervention" and claim it's effective. You need at least a PhD and years of experience to get to that level.
At the end of the day, people will do what they want. If you want to buy it, please just approach it with skepticism. If you find it helpful, then that's amazing. But it would be unethical for any practicing licensed therapist or psychologist to recommend it at this point.
To me, it comes off like a scam and niche marketeering, appropriating language from the mental health practice into a book that has not been peer reviewed and empirically supported. Personally, I don't trust it.
