Old English Pub is a popular restaurant-bar located on Bagdat Avenue in Istanbul. It offers draft and cold beer, delicious starters and appetizers, and a view over Bagdat Street. The pub has a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu featuring typical pub food. While not completely authentic, it still provides a taste of England with dishes like fish and chips. The prices are reasonable, and the pub is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink.

I went in, ordered a beer from the tap, about twenty minutes later the beer hadn’t arrived. So I left. The place empty BTW.

  • Thursday Afternoon

I tried the pulled beef burger which was very yummy and it was a giant portion. My aunt had the fish & chips and she was very happy as well. We had draft beer. From what I can see the bottled beers are more expensive...than the rest of the pub-like places. Overall, a perfect thursday afternoonMore than the rest of the pub-like places. • Somehow, overcrowded by staff

Old English Pub is located on the most famous street on Asian side of Istanbul. It is generally a street for shopping for the people who have mid or high life style. As a result, the prices are higher than usual. However you start to...realise some weird things from the start. First the smell going up to the place is not pleasant, most probably coming from a nearby toilet. And then you go in and you are accepted by a lady who only say "welcome" to you. You think she will help you but no, later we understood that her only function was to say "welcome" to the customers. There were only 4 tables with customers and we saw 6 waitors walking around. The prices were unnecessarily high as I mentioned. When we were leaving the place we saw the first laday, took a smoking break, most probably tired of saying "hello" to the people. Quite a dissappointment.More realise some weird things from the start. First the smell going up to the place is not pleasant, most probably coming from a nearby toilet. • Could have been so much better...

This was my second visit and based on this experience, I wonder if there will be a third.

On the bright side, this pub is above a shop in Suadiye and offers fantastic people watching opportunities for both the professional gossip and those of us...who just enjoy watching the world go by. The location is also incredibly convenient in case you have a shopaholic spouse - I got to sit with a beer in hand watching the world go by while she shopped safe in the knowledge that I wasn't going to grumble about how long it took.

Don't read too much into the “English pub” - it's just a theme and they have fish and chips on the menu - If you are looking for a taste of Blighty (which I wasn't ) you are out of luck here.

On the negative side, service was pretty poor. Once you had attracted a servers attention and ordered there was about a 5 minute delay until your drink came - not a killer, but given that all of the orders are placed on tablets, its plenty long enough to wonder if the order has gone to another table. I ordered a snack (a toasted cheese sandwich - classy huh?) which had not arrived more than 30 minutes later. When we (finally) attracted a servers attention it remarkably arrived a minute later complete with wilted salad suggesting it had been sat under a hot lamp for 10 minutes. When we tried to leave there was another delay in getting the bill and then nobody seemed to be interested in taking our money so we went to the cashier by the door who was spending ages seemingly trying to understand the credit card machine for the previous customers  - luckily we had cash, so paid and ran - the small tip they will have enjoyed because we couldn't be bothered to wait for the change was entirely undeserved.

Being generous, I guess I should point out that we were visiting on new years day, so perhaps hangovers played a part in the poor serviceMore who just enjoy watching the world go by. • super enjoyable night we had

Bağdat caddesi ( avenue) is most populer and longest avenue-street in Istanbul Anotolian side, surrended with all sort of restaurants, caffes, shopping windows , always crawded and you may find whatso ever you wanna do...
Old English Pub is just located alongside the street, indeed...a super pub, may have all sort of drinks, but popular is beer, and served delicious dishes especially go with the beer.
for the dinners time you better have reservation however you may have highly chance to get a seat at least on a bar chair, and keep in mind the table geerally for 6 people , may be one more.

last night, as a three couple had so enjoyement with its atmosphere, ambiance, music, dishes and beers, served so speedy and friendly

and special thanks to the ladies , assume, in charghe of welcomming and organizingMore a super pub, may have all sort of drinks, but popular is beer, and served delicious dishes especially go with the beer.

Not so English, no so pub...
They don't offer even a menu in English.
The burger was over cooked. Fries were good and the service was fine. It is an option, but do not expect much.
The music was good and some TV with Football...matches.More matches.

    • Lively Pub in an Upscale Locale

Going to a British pub in Istanbul may seem akin to eating at McDonald's anywhere in the world, but don't let the name fool you. Yes, the wood-paneled decor is pub-like and you can get a burger or fish and chips, but this obviously is...a local favorite restaurant-bar-gathering spot for residents in the upscale Bagdat Caddesi neighborhood. The open-air (at least in June) restaurant/bar is on the second floor. Ask for a booth overlooking the street so you can watch the street scene below on the posh Parisian-like boulevard (lined with bespoke shops and small cafes. We paired a fresh fruit plate with white wine and the house-favorite brew, Tuborg. One guest in our party ordered chicken curry (which included walnuts), and the plate was filled with the main dish, rice, and fries. One server did speak English, and graciously returned to our table (he wasn't our server) multiple times to translate for our Turkish host:)More a local favorite restaurant-bar-gathering spot for residents in the upscale Bagdat Caddesi neighborhood. • I'd go again!

We went there in January 2016 and it was a welcome stop on a dismal day in Istanbul. It's not really an English Pub, but a good try and I liked the vibrancy of the place and it's popular. Food turned-up very quickly and was excellent,...although you learn quite quickly in Turkey that your plate gets whipped away very quickly if you don't keep a close watch!! If we end-up in this part of Istanbul again I would definitely go here again.More although you learn quite quickly in Turkey that your plate gets whipped away very quickly if you don't keep a close watch!! • Nice for evenings with friends but not going out of my way to come here

Went here for dinner with a friend one night. Sat on terrace for smoking. Overcrowded with too many tables jammed into the area. Staff doesnt check on tables and had to call waiter over for ordering drinks, then food, then check. Food was okay, not...exceptional. Would choose different place next time if my choice as service was lacking and food didnt impress.More exceptional.
