publisher badly skimped on font size to save money on paper. The font is near 10 pt, perhaps even 9 point in some areas. 12 pt [which is larger] is the norm. The book appears to be good, what i can read of it -- but returned it. It is absolutely unreadable for many of us.
Oddly the kindle edition is more expensive than the paperback... really no excuse for that other than again, money apparently rules only, at that publishing house
It’s been a very enjoyable book to take along on camping trips and each time we learn something new!!
The concept of this book is great. The information is useful. However (fancy word for 'but...') personally, I felt like the author was more focused on personal experiences and opinions. The print is very small and light so the pages are really hard to read - even with glasses and sufficient lighting. This isn't a children's book but pictures are helpful when presenting facts and descriptions.
I bought this for my son as part of his birthday gift basket as he’s an avid hiker and adventurer. I thumbed through the book and was really impressed with the information that I read and I know that it will be of great use to my son.
It is a good book, has useful information, but a slow read. Written like half story/half info book and so is not a good reference book, and not a good novel either.
Bought this as a gift for someone who is new to hiking with his young son. Filled with lots of helpful facts about the great outdoors.
