  • Elaine Clark's book is full of comprehensive information about the voice over business. It's a great introduction to the profession and is packed with guidelines about audio equipment, voice over techniques and getting voice over work. It also contains a wealth of practice exercises for different types of voice over. However, it is no substitute for professional training by an experienced voice over coach. As informative as this book is, I don't think it highlights the need for training enough.

  • Great Read and Applicable Tips

    Elaine Clark offers plenty of insight into the business of Voiceover Acting. She is a highly regarded professional in voiceover, and is one of the most respected voiceover teachers in the industry. She freely shares techniques that help you interpret and perform copy, so you can connect the message with your listeners.

    I adopted this book as part of my college course I teach in beginning voiceover acting, but even a seasoned pro will find value in her approach.

  • Spine damaged and crumpled. Dirty smudges along top and sides...looked like it had been kicked around a dirty floor. Tatty and old. No refund as still have to return although it is only worth putting in bin. Replacement paid for and wasnt much better. Awful state, especially as a gift, so wasnt given.

    • This is a course in Voice Acting! Be prepared to work!

      I have other books on Voice Acting, but Elaine really teaches you what it takes to first become an actor, then a voice actor! I have read aloud, been a radio DJ and been on stage for plays. I was never an actor. Elaine's book is a guide to becoming a real voice actor. You will learn. You will work (this isn't just being a good reader), you will learn and you will hone your craft!
      Elaine also teaches you how to "read" and interpret a script, how to dissect it to give your customer the best performance - which is what they deserve.
      If voice acting is your passion, do yourself a favor and buy this book!

    • ALL THE INFO YOU NEED IS HERE!

      Elaine Clark puts it all together with this one book. Reading it (and paying attention to the publication date) shows me that she is the one to thank for the many tips I've received from other people over the years. The best part is that she does a better job of explaining details. Honestly, I feel that her book would have put me further down the road to understanding the wonderful but complex world of voice-over had I only found it years earlier.
