  • Solid Sense for Youth Soccer Players + Coaches

    I picked this up when looking for a book to give my mom to help her understand what to look for when watching professional soccer -- this is not the book for that. What is a very good book for is youth soccer players and their coaches. The author has coached college soccer for something like twenty years and here lays out around fifty basic but important concepts for players to internalize and execute. He does a nice job of keeping each simple and often tries to tie them to a word or catchphrase to make them sticky. Many of them are common sense, but the kind of common sense that all too often goes missing on the field. Wish I could go back in time and give this to my 13-year-old self! So, not a good gift for soccer spectators, but well worth gifting to youth players and their coaches.

    My son read 3 chapters right away and loves this book!! Already learned and enjoys the writing, he even wanted to read aloud to me!! Any one with an interest in soccer will like this book!!

    My daughter reads me the book on our commute to soccer practice. Some of the lessons the author talks about show up in training and in games. Highly recommended to Soccer parents who take the game serious.

    This is the best soccer book I've ever read. It has so many little tips to help you improve your game. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to get better at soccer.

  • There is NO better soccer book available on the planet.

    I am writing this from my wife's account as that is where we purchase most things from Amazon. I have been coaching club, HS and college for nearly 20 years. This book is one of two I suggest to every single player I have.

    The concepts aren't complicated, and neither is this game. What IS complicated is implementing a game plan against another team who wants to implement theirs. This book gives you and your team the tools to implement YOUR game plan and stop the opponent from implementing theirs.

    It is geniusly written and equally useful to kids and adults.

    If you can only read three soccer books in your life read "Everything your Coach Never Told You because your a girl" (Also Dan Blank) and read this one twice.

If you want to learn applicable ideas to the game, who would have thought an American women's football coach would be the guy to be doling out these hot nuggets of wisdom! My two favorites were too look around more and just be quicker playing the ball
