Very thick easy to follow
It’s more of a professional type of book. I was just looking for basic wiring you know I’m just trying to put electricity inside my barn. It’s already cost me a small fortune to get the electricity to the barn. It’s a good read though.

This book is valuable for the person who has some technical knowledge and skills, but not directly in household wiring! Excellent photos and technical descriptions.

Great book for beginners into wiring jobs. Plenty of illustrations and alternate examples on other ways to wire switches and such. Recommend this book.

Excellent Book
Originally bought this book to help me with several projects, i.e., adding electric to a barn including 200 amp service, lights, multiple outlets, exhaust fan, etc... This book was a great resource and really helped. My son just became an electrician's apprentice so I bought a newer edition of this book for him. His only experience with electrical work has been assisting me and this book will be a great resource for him.

Updated electrical codes
With all tghe major changes in the NEC's this books explans and shows the code for home wiring. Major changes over the past 2 years on GFCI and AFCI applications. Great photos demonstrating all types of wiring includign new contruction and repairs.

Goes into very detailed explanations. Need of code books should be double checked but with the references in this book you’ll be able to understand what you need.

Just what this electronics engineer needed
I was able to get the answers I needed in a hurry. Then I was able to really read the book to get more insight into wiring our new house. I am not finished yet, but things are going well!

Very basic DYI wiring 101.
Well illustrated with clear pictures and as one reviewer pointed out - somewhat dated, but then again, so are our houses. If you are starting from not knowing much, it should help you to not burn your house down.

very basic info on electrical systems
Disappointed that the updated version still has X10 as latest mention for home automation controls. There are many systems that are now in place that use Zigbee, Wifi, or IOT (control4, Crestron, etc). These should be included in an "updated" guide in any discussion of smart home technology.

Lots of information.
Good book to have around . Has a little bit of everything in it and plenty of pictures of how things are wired . Good book to have if you don’t do this type of work all the time and need a refresher, plus it’s up to date on code .
