  • Works well, Must Have

Massive help! Works well on our newborn. It even helps losing up the dried ones. She does not even mind the sound or vacuum in her nose. Looks even relieved afterwards

  • Great

It has been great for my infant. Helps to clear out, however the suction1 is not enough for clearing out.

  • Great first impression!

I never write product reviews because, frankly, I'm too lazy. But after our wonderful first experience with the Hammsom Nasal Aspirator, I couldn't wait to share our story in hopes of helping others.

Like for many parents, stuffy noses and dried boogers (especially in the middle of the night) have been a nuisance for our 3 year old. We had a manual (oral?) aspirator similar to the NoseFrida the Snotsucker. When necessary, it was used with a nebulizer to loosen the bogies. Both worked great, but the nebulizer kind of freaked out our son, while the snot sucker was simply exhausting to use. Boy, did I wish I had one of those heavy-duty snot suckers you find in a pediatrician's office!

Of course, I knew none of the home models could do what those machines did, but there had to be an affordable model that did the job more than half the time. I was in some agony deciding between brands like the electric NoseFrida, Grownsy, even the really expensive one by Nosiboo ("Just get it!" many reviews would say.). I'm sure those are all fine products that may do an even better job than the device we ultimately bought. But did I really need to spend that much money?

Something about the Hammsom aspirator really appealed to me. Of course, the price was hard to beat. But I also liked the design and promo video. Everything seemed smartly done! I suspected this was simply a good product that currently doesn't have the market position to command a higher price. Yes, some reviews say the suction isn't that great, but people have said the same thing about the top brands. Oh, what to do! The Hammsom isn’t listed as a top nasal aspirator by any of the websites I looked at! I decided to go for it anyway. Even if this thing died on us after a few tries, $20 lost isn't the end of the world.

But, oh, what a lovely surprise! Our aspirator was delivered today along with a bottle of Little Remedies Sterile Saline Nasal Mist. Our son was surprisingly intrigued by the machine and even liked using it on himself. Lucky us! We started with just the aspirator. The suction did strike me as weak, even on the highest setting, so I was a little nervous that it wouldn't work against his dried, stubborn boogers. But used with the mist (sprayed while he sat up instead of head-on-his-side as directed, which he refused to do), it worked! It really worked! I had to learn how to maneuver the thing so it would kind of slurp up boogers rather than just give hickeys to his nasal canal. It will take practice. But after our son said his nose felt clear, we opened up the aspirator and checked inside: two huge, sticky, disgusting boogers! I have photos but will spare you all.

Lucky first day? I don't know. Will this thing work a few times than die? Possibly. I suspect some fatigued parents don't properly loosen the boogers before applying suction. I’m pretty sure a saline mist is essential. Don't be lazy! Use this thing the right way, and everyone will very likely sleep better at night.

Thank you Hammsom for making a good product at an affordable price! Fingers crossed this little machine will last.

  • Better than those suction bulb

Really wish this came with a carrying bag other wise you’ll need to use the box or a ziploc bag. The three sizes are nice, my baby is a preemie so her nose is small. The bulb suction didn’t fit her. I did order another electric booger sucker for twice the price and comparing the two the other one had a carrying case but the tips were bigger. It was more quieter than this one and it play music. Both are USB-C but the one in this one seem to be dirty or it was a reject. The suction power is less than the pricier one but I’m not trying to suck my baby brain out just the mucus and booger which it does. There’s three setting, low medium and high like the expensive one so there’s no loss of suction. Build quality is about the same to the expensive one. Holding the power button turn it on and what’s great is it save the power setting upon start up. The major flaw I found in this is when you take it apart to clean the booger storage chamber. It’s very hard to take apart from that part and the actual device itself. I found that if you don’t pay attention when you open it and the little O-ring seal will fall off and you’re out of luck because without it sealed there’s no suction. This one claim to be quiet but it’s louder than the expensive Grownsy one.
