  • Bought this for my 8 year old grandson, he loves it.

He started out with Snap Circuit kits, has now graduated to solderless breadboards and soon soldering. Has a few very interesting circuits to hold his interest. It would have been better if the circuit images should be larger- I like to copy them, and have my grandson breadboard each diagram using a yellow highlighter to mark when he finishes one connection. Still, there's also a lot of tutorial information which I can supplement with things like truth tables for the logic circuits (yeah, I know, advanced for an 8-year old but that's where he's at right now). 5 stars, wish I could find one that's even more advanced.

  • Mostly great. Had to wait too long.

We waited almost a month for the seller to get this to us. And, be warned, no tracking was made available. This book was shipped to me in amazing shape, better than I expected. It is pretty close to what I expected it to be, based on reviews I read. I was expecting a bunch of cool things to build that taught electricity and electronics--and it does. I was disappointed when the first experiment required us to go buy some more stuff that is hard to locate anywhere but online. I know it will be worth it to do so, but my daughter and I waited a REALLY LONG TIME to get this book from the seller, so we were already kind of impatient, and now I have to order other stuff before we get to use the book. If you have kids, you know you have a small window of time to capitalize on their excitement, and if you wait too long, they'll be on to something else.

  • Step by Step Instructions

My grandson and I like to tinker with electronics. We have several books that start out with the basics and then jump to "magic happens and here's the finished product" with all the intermediate steps left out. This book is a good step by step book with fun illustrations and helpful text. There are a lot of easy projects to keep your interest while you build knowledge. Worthwhile book!

  • My 10 year old son loves this book. He ...

My 10 year old son loves this book. He has "graduated' from his electronic snap circuit sets to Arduino. I had a spiral binding put on the book for a few dollars so my son wouldn't ruin the spine with as much as he is going to look at this book.

  • Author is big on experiments and here too he starts out OK but as time goes on he starts to assume all is easy to understand

The book title implies it is suitable for kids. Not really.

Book starts out simple but as time goes on the author begins to skim over a lot of details to make things really simple for kids.
Author is big on experiments and here too he starts out OK but as time goes on he starts to assume all is easy to understand.

Also the publisher should start a new page whenever the author goes into practice mode.

The book could become a easier book to understand if the author went back and filled in some details .
