Review of an ADHD Planner

Review of an ADHD Planner

28 reviews between Apr 18, 2022 and Jun 20, 2023.

This ADHD planner is overwhelming for some users but helpful for others. It has a hardcover binding and peculiar entries to keep users interested. Some suggestions for improvement include removing the ADHD label from the cover and providing an undated format. The planner is praised for its ability to help users establish routines and stay organized. However, the three-month duration and lack of instructions can be challenging for some users. Overall, it is a valuable tool for individuals with ADHD.

  • Too Much Going On

I really wanted something to help me but honestly, this is just overwhelming. There's a lot going on at once and made me not want to bother with it. It's probably the ADHD talking but it was a waste of money for me.

  • Great but why is this only 13 weeks

I like this planner a lot. It's very helpful. Unfortunately, I did not realize it was only 13 weeks when I bought it. I'm unlikely to buy 3 more of these for the year as this was already an expensive planner. Also, having to remember/follow through with buying 3 more planners is also difficult for many of us with ADHD.

  • Somewhat heavy

My girlfriend has been diagnosed with ADHD, so I got her this planner because I wanted her to get more organized with her thoughts and plans. This journal is rather heavy due to the hard cover binding, but it's got lots of peculiar entries to be made in it, so it should keep her interested in putting her mind in one place on paper.

  • Best planner ever

I love this planner so much. I love that it includes water intake and has two pages dedicated to each day. The only mild issue I have with it is that I would prefer if it was spiral bound instead of hardcover. Also, I wish it was a little more discrete with the "ADHD planner" on the cover. I work in a not-so-welcoming environment so it's a little nerve-racking to pull out a planner with that on the cover. Other than that, I love it. It's easy to use and great for people with ADHD (when we remember to use it).

  • Almost perfect…but, need to update product

This planner is almost perfect but, they need to 1)remove ADHD from the cover and go with an undated format. I ended up buying a book cover which doesn’t fit well.
    2) I also recommend moving things like weekly review to another section of the book. As an ADHD’er. I don’t always get through everything I put down on my day. So I might be on the same page for 2 days. I need the flexibility to use the pages at my pace.
    3) Maybe offer a larger version. My day starts at 5:30 am and doesn’t end until 8:00 or 9:00- the block scheduling doesn’t provide enough room to put everything in it.

I hope they read this and make some changes. Otherwise, it’s a one and done purchase for me. 😟

    • Expensive for 13 week planner

Good quality, nicely labeled, checks most boxes. Few things I would like to see changed: 1. Remove embossed “ADHD Planner” from cover. Leave it blank. In description .. for marketing, add…”Great/good/best planner for those challenged with organization”. 2. Start the week on Sunday like 99.9% of calendars on the market. 3. REALLY expensive if using for 12 months. This planner is only for 13 weeks. Perhaps I missed the fine print. To cover for the entire year you’d need to purchase 4+ books* = a whooping $140.00.!!! Again layout has a nice concept but price waaay too high. *Would run out of pages mid December if used daily. I need a planner like yesterday…but may return it. Updated my review: I returned the planner.

    • SO Helpful

I love this planner so much I emailed the seller when it was unavailable to see if they had any
in a corner of a warehouse I could buy. I love that it gives a couple of ways to break down long term goals and areas to plan them. With ADHD and whatever else impacts how I plan and work, routines REALLY help and there's both a section to make routines AND daily check-offs to mark if you do them or not. Doing stuff at work is much easier than trying to either be productive or meaningfully relax at home, so setting up these routines as cues helps so much. The daily pages are helpful--especially having priorities, places for freeform notes, and a place to note things that worked/things I achieved. With so many ideas of what I can or should do bombarding me constantly, it helps to step back and be mindful of what I DID do. I also love the weekly planning, especially the grid page to mind map in whatever way is useful that week, and the overall schedule/priorities page--I need both the big picture and details. If you don't like the name/having the name on the cover, I found it easy to apply stickers etc.

I stalked the listing to see when it would be back when customer service gave me an estimate, so I saw it the day it came back on, and then they also emailed my neurotic self to let me know it was back. Love the planner, love the team behind it.

    • Such a great planner and works with my ADHD brain!

This planner has been really great in helping me get into a good routine. I love that the hourly portion is blank as my days look different everyday. The sections included are great for reflection and help you track your progress throughout the months. Totally recommend!

This has been so helpful for my husband who was recently diagnosed. It really helps you to stay organized and on track without being overwhelming. It would be nicer if it wasn’t advertised that it’s for ADHD right on the cover but we put it inside a leather folio and it’s perfect. A must have for anyone with ADHD.

    • unnecessary and overly involved

As a person with ADD I was very intrigued by the idea of this planner. However, I just don't see it working for me, for a variety of reasons. One is that the printed text in it could use some proofreading (for instance, all the goal-setting pages in the front say "achievment").

Another reason is that the planner is only for three months. The author says in the introduction that having ADHD is like having a superpower, and that she could accomplish more in three months than others could in years. Even though I am happy that this strategy worked for her, when reading that I actually felt the complete opposite - that it definitely takes *me* years to do what "normal" people can accomplish in three months.

Then of course it's the sheer cost of using a planner like this. Unless you are writing in pencil and erasing everything to reuse it every quarter, that's $140 a year for a sort of customizable planner! And it isn't even exceptionally well-made or anything - I noticed after a couple of weeks that the fabric binding started bubbling on the cover. (Although no, I don't see anything wrong with how the fabric feels, as another reviewer complained.)

And finally, yet another reason is that this is all simply too complicated and time-consuming. I guess ultimately I just don't see how this planner would help a person with ADHD because a person with ADHD wouldn't have the patience to fill out all those sections, let alone continuously keep track of every goal and habit on a daily basis like that for months on end.

Frankly a plain notebook would be more useful where you just write down a daily to-do list, check off completed items, and transfer the ones not completed to the next day. As far as planners sold commercially, personally I really like the Bloom undated dot planner (ASIN B08YDCKBCR), where I write my to-do list in the top portion of the day and whatever meetings and appointments I have going on in the schedule section on the bottom.

Bottom line: I kind of feel like all in all instead of helping people, this creation maybe tries to take advantage of them instead. If this was a regular purchase, I would have returned it.

    • Elegant and simple may not work for everyone

This is a really nice motivational journal. It's not as structured as some, and that's why I like it, but some users may prefer the layout to be more regimented. There are some great quotes in here and some awesome writing prompts. Some people with ADHD are going to get bored easily but consistency in habits is how we begin learning to live with it.

A nice simple green linen style cover and clean design inside make it ideal for men or women.

I wish the paper was a little thicker at this price but that's my main gripe.

    • Nice set up

I have ADHD. This planner has everything I could ever want to help me manage my life. But I have ADHD so I still have not used this planner. It feels too nice to actually use it. I have made copies of some of the pages to use separately from the book and that was easier for me.

    • A bit (too much) of a blank canvas

This has been all right for me--it at the very least provides me a lot of different paths I can take to organize my life. That said, it leaves a lot to my imagination to figure out how exactly to use it. There are no instructions to tell you what each of the sections is, or how you might use it, which would be really helpful in getting me started and keeping me going.
The other half of it is more conceptual--unlike a yearly planner, you've got to fill in the dates yourself. Fall off by a day and you've got a blank page, which feels wasteful. My goal is to use this through the end of the year and then find something better (with dates already in there!) for 2023.

    • helps me stay focused

I have a bunch of these pre-printed planners with prompts that I switch between (as soon as I find myself kind of sliding on using them, I switch over to a different one for some variety/motivation because they are all a little different) and I really like using this one. It keeps me focused and is fun to keep filling out, and I actually do find that I get good results with this particular one.

This is such a wonderful journal. As someone who has ADHD, I am all over the place on a daily basis. This journal has so many different options for me to jot down all of my MANY thoughts. There are places to write down my goals, to-do lists, and much much more! This is such an awesome option for someone like me whose mind is always racing. It gives me permission to stop trying to remember everything and just allow myself to (try) and be in the moment.

    • Slightly disappointed

For the most part, I am pleased with this ADHD planner by epic self. I have severe ADHD symptoms that are currently unmedicated (due to issues with another one of my other medical issues), and I am relying on planners and other coping mechanisms to try to handle my ADHD. For the most part, it’s not going all that well, but I’m doing my best! I do really love the planner, although I have one HUGE complaint, which is why I’m giving four stars instead of five.

I’ll start with the good stuff first: the great parts about this planner is how it is set up. I really like that there isn’t a huge introductory part with all the instructions. This planner DOES have instructions on how to use it, but it doesn’t take a ton of time going over that because this company thankfully understands that people with ADHD don’t have the bandwidth to focus for a long time on the instructions! I also love how the planner breaks down each day. That really helps me.

Now, for the negative part: the cover of this planner! I’ve mentioned this complaint in other reviews too when it comes to covers on various things, and this planner makes the same mistake. The planner cover is one of those rough feeling fabric covers that aggravates those of us with sensory issues (and this is a common issue in people with ADHD; it’s not just other disorders that experience sensory processing problems or touch sensitivity!) Since I like the planner contents, I will probably try to find a way to cover the planner with something else so I can still use it, but touching it is distracting and aggravating, so yes, it’s a FULL STAR OFF!

That aside, I am happy with the planner and hope to use it fully. I also recommend it to others and if you don’t struggle with any sensitivity of the type I am describing, then you will likely really enjoy this planner. Four stars!

    • Couple explanations needed but cool

Hey so the video I shot for you mainly explains and show some stuff. But I wanted to put a couple words in writing too for you about this the ADHD planner.

The reason I got it was because my adult son was recently diagnosed with it, so I wanted to check this out. Also The more I learn about it, I think I pretty much have it a lot of the time haha. But I'm too old to have been ever diagnosed with it.

I love how the inventor says let's have ADHD be your superpower. I think that's really cool, especially since my daughter writes about superpowers and superheroes in her sci-fi urban fantasy series.

      The paper's nice and quality.

      made in China

there's a few different kinds of pages, I showed you some.

it's got some cool things to it, like a water tracker water intake, and it's a it's a little different than some of the planners I've seen.

and it does have two pages per day which I like including for Sundays so that's always nice

and a weekly overview and preparations and schedule.

I wanted to know, though , what a brain dump is and also how to use the little habit trackers there's only a few of them at the beginning but I've heard of habit trackers and I've seen them but I don't see a how to explaining them a little in here for that, or the brain dump.

It is sturdy and durable. If I were using this for work in the workplace I probably would put a book cover on it if I didn't want everybody to see ADHD planner or whatever. Although it's nothing to be embarrassed of, you know how some people are.

But yeah, let's make ADHD our Superpower by golly!

    • This is very beneficial

I am consistently inconsistent with journals, notebooks, and anything involving... Oh, Look! There’s something shiny! The planner arrived and looked just as expected. I went with the green color. There is a positive introduction, which I appreciate. I found the words encouraging. The intro serves as a reminder that we’re trying to make self-progress and that no one is perfect. Just do your best! There are a few different sections that allow you to write down goals, projects, where you are, where you want to be, etc. A few pages in, you’ll see that it actually is a planner for the week with helpful sections for brain dumps, affirmations, habit tracking, and more. This planner will be extremely helpful for me and is better than I expected for all the sections listed above. Give this a shot if you’re looking to organize the chaos of your mind. Oh yeah! It also includes three bookmarks instead of just one.

    • Just what I've always needed!

This planner is perfect for anyone who is a serial procrastinator, has focus issues, is neurodivergent/ADHD, or someone who just needs some motivation. It has sections to help you clarify your intentions, use them to create goals, and use those goals to produce game plans. It has sections for habit trackers, to-do lists, master project lists, routines/rituals, brain strategy, weekly overviews, undated weekly planners, weekly reviews with prep for the next week (so you can see how well you met your goals the previous week and tweak your routines to do better). It has three ribbon bookmarks which is great because that's how many I need all the time I use this. There are sections for affirmations, brain dumps, and creating a schedule.
      This is literally perfect.
I got the light green hardcover version. I only wish there were some prettier options, but it's manageable.
Oh, and the "get unstuck" section is at the very end, the last few pages. They tell you how to get out of an ADHD rut.
I'm actually going to use this one and that's huge for me. I usually buy planners because I *want to* be a planning person, but can never get into the habit and/or don't find the content engaging.

epic self really hit the nail on the head with this planner and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. I do need to point out one little nitpick, though: I wish they had taken better care with editing. There are a few sentences that appear to be missing key words and some layout problems (like something hitting 5 spaces instead of one, or hitting tab, causing weird misplaced indents). And did they mean "jumping rod" or "jump rope", as I assume? There are a few more issues like this but that doesn't matter too much.
