I liked this I was laughing I love ms.birdie and sophie.. I was laughing so hard at her talking to mac and then meeting the gang later on. Oh an burg..
I'm still waiting for some necessary information. Really liked when Sophie told Mac not to worry his pretty little head over it. That was a really nice change of pace. I like Sophie's snark, very refreshing.
I read a lot of parAnormal and this was a fun quick read with a great snarky dialogue. Will definitely read more of her books.
It's an easy read. There is nothing new here, a very standard paranormal trope. I did enjoy her elderly neighbor and the trash talking, but the rest was just kind of standard stuff.
Its so rare to find a story that's funny, fast paced, snarky and enjoyable. The MC, Sophie, is great and doesn't do stupid like so many of the typical female MCs. I loved the whole storyline and can't wait to read the next book.
I loved this book. I'd recommend it to all my friends who are avid readers. It's fantasy and that's what all my friends read.
I cannot stress this enough. This is a fantastic series. It keeps you engaged, at times enthralled. I legit laughed out loud and fell more and more in love with the characters. Do not miss out. Stop reading this review and immediately read and then move on to the next!
Love the characters and the world building. Already purchased book 2!! Looking forward to see where this goes! If you like this genre you'll love it!!
This was a great book which is surprising given it was a random recommendation from Amazon. I loved the book so much I bought the rest of the series and I've pre-ordered the new book coming out. It kept me coming back for more and that's rare to find in the sea of random books on Amazon. I highly recommend this book.
Ophir and the Odd Ones is the first in a great urban fantasy mystery series. While solving the cases the Odd Ones there is enough fun Dialogue to relieve the dramatic tension and make the story a good read
I liked Sophie’s snarkiness and all her sarcastic comebacks, but I wish someone had helped make sure that she didn’t repeat similar things too often. At times she was maybe trying a little too hard to be snarky.
I also had many questions about Sophie. It felt like I never really got to her her despite the author throwing out tidbits of her life. It wasn’t enough. Furthermore,
how does she see these visions of hers? Are they stories, is she reliving from the person who died’s perspective or is she an outsider? It felt like the author changed it to suit her story’s whims and that it had no real structure.
Lastly, Sophie almost messed up the ending with the classically annoying ‘person with no skills rushing into danger and somehow magically saves the day’. Luckily it did happen quite that way and I’m thankful.
A solid 3 stars - A good read
A refreshing paranormal romance with a human with strange visions who gets a job as as an autopsy assistant and finds herself embraced by her odd colleagues who work the night shift with her. She learns they are shifters and they have to work to stop a serial murderer. Narrator Janine Granda is super talented. She brings this book to life.
This 8s a unique book unlike anything I have read before. The characters are well though out and very well written. I look forward to the next book.
It is so nice to read a book, where the lead character falls in love by the second page. These are quirky but loveable characters, with a decent mystery built in
Great urban fantasy and well paced story. Looking forward to this series for sure! Highly recommend if you're in the market for something new
I was browsing for a new author to read. The premise of the book and series sounded good, so I decided to try them out. I am happy I did. Just a bit of a slow start, but then I couldn't stop reading. As this is important to me and many others, I want to note that the editing was awesome. The length was appropriate, not a big lead on or cliff hanger. My biggest complaints are that book 4 is not yet out, and that her website is just barely there with no mention of continuation of this series. It must continue. Gwen could not give up on such a most promising series.
With a slow and clunky start, I struggled through the first part of this book, but it does improve from about 40% when the story settles in.
The heroine’s personality is grating, as the author seems to struggle to write a strong female character. Instead of strong, the heroine is more obnoxious with seemingly a borderline personality disorder. The banter between characters is often uncomfortable or too quick.
I like the book title. But it’s more apt than probably intended with nothing to do with paranormal parts.
That said, the story did eventually grab me. And I could look past the character peculiarities. The writing is solid. The side bartender character is the most well drawn unusually. The story is good, requiring some leaps of faith about the plot and relationships.
Two stars for a decent urban fantasy with good parts.
Starts off kind of slow but speeds along nicely after awhile. I will certainly read the next book in the series.
I fully enjoyed this book. Sophie and Mac are a fun couple. I also love all of the various shifters.
Imagination, history tidbits and just the right amount of snark make this a treasure. Hurriedly downloading book 2! Thanks, Gwen!
I got this book because the sample was no bad and the number of reviews, including the positive ones.
Unlike other people I don’t mind the cussing, but was is really a problem for me is how naive the characters are especially the Maine heroine. As the book progresses she gets more and more immature, what I would not normally expect.
The dialogue among various characters are too boring, predictable and overly descriptive… sometimes I really felt they were teenagers and not mature adults.
In case of the story, there is just no depth and the characters seem to play some role when no one is super clever, but just super naive and trustworthy. There is no challenge as one can predict the story and there is even no ending as everyone know it’s going to continue…
Although, the book had a potential, there are just so many NOs, hence I will not be buying another one in the series.
Was a moving read. Just a touch of everything, not any gore or overly done sex plots. Could not put down.
Sophie Feegle is my newest obsession and I’m thrilled to see there are two new books I can binge. I love characters like Sophie, quirky, little bit unsure but loyal and kind. Her Odd Ones are wonderful. All a bit out of step but together they are a fantastic team. Cannot wait to read the rest
This book is great! This sassy snarky mouthed girl can't keep a job and ends up working the graveyard shift at the morgue. Only to find out paranormals are real, and their leftovers are passing through her morgue.
Enjoy, I sure did.
I'm really enjoying this new series by a new-to-me author. She writes in a fun and fast-paced style, and the characters and world-building are very engaging. I became very invested in the heroine. She's plucky and goodhearted, but not a goody two-shoes. She's also a little mysterious. I hope the author will reveal more of her back-story as the series progresses. The first two books have left me wanting more, so I hope the author is hard at work on the next one. :-)
Great cast of characters! Nice to have a MC who isn't perfect. I too am always tempted to flip people off.
What a well written fantasy! I love the story line and love the characters even more! All I can say is more please!
Its a great read if you like stories of shifter and other fey you will like this. Nice characters easy read. I really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed the banter and character growth in this book. I also commend the author for a well written book. I read a few books the other day that were really good but had several errors throughout. It can be off putting.
I really wanted to love this one. I made it to 62% and had to skip to the end. Even that was meh. I loved the overall premise, the main character and her friends. The sentence construction though, the expression was SO stilted. It doesn't run smoothly, there's just a bit too much exposition everywhere. Editing is a cruel thing for writers but a good thing for readers. A good editor could turn this book into something special. It's not there yet.

The FlipBelt lightweight running belt with a breathable mesh material and a secure zip closure is ideal for reducing movement and friction while carrying small personal items such as a phone, keys, and powdered electrolytes. The pockets are top-loading and surround the band for secure storage. Users need to avoid overloading the belt to reduce bouncing and chafing. Some users prefer the zippered version, but they worry about the zipper durability. The sizing guide is accurate, but some suggest sizing up for the original version.

Customers review these cut-resistant gloves for kitchen and outdoor activities. Some find them tight-fitting, but others appreciate their high quality and good fit, protecting their hands from cuts and scrapes. The gloves perform well for cleaning and cutting fish or preparing meals with sharp knives. They are also useful for handling metal or thorny plants, and they are easy to clean. Customers recommend checking the size chart before ordering, as the gloves may run small. A few users find them flimsy and too small, while others report they are hard to put on or take off. Overall, they are a great addition to any survival kit or gift basket for foodies, and they offer peace of mind while working with sharp objects.
