I think the book is a good tool to get your teenager to think and share feelings about life.
What a great way to journal. Ive always had difficulty journaling. This is a great support in getting started.
I think the intent is for the child to read and fill in the book by themselves, however, we are reading/completing this book WITH our 11 & 12 year old boys. We bought 1 for each of them. We are about 1/3 of the way into it and reading this book together has started some very good conversations and provided insight for us about how our children view themselves. Highly recommend! The kids aren't always excited to start, but once we start reading, they are very engaged and have a lot to say about the topics.
I purchased this book for my 14 yr old bc it looked interactive, creative and fun to fill out. A new way to journal with prompts. I walked into her room where I found her in tears. Upon questioning, she blubbered âI donât know where I see myself in 10 years.â I thought this stocking stuffer would be fun and helpful and it caused her more stress and anxiety. She was clearly overwhelmed. If you have an anxious child or one who worries, this may not be the journal for them. I wiped her tears, took the book and we never looked at it again. It looked like something I would have liked as a teen. 3 stars intended to convey as ânuetralâ bc I would have liked it but my daughter did not.
I am loving the Big Life Teen Journal for use with my middle school social skills class.
I have three girls that Iâve tried to raise to be confident ,compassionate, and strong people. We all want our kids to great things and be happy inside, right. So each of these girls is very different. Different likes, dislikes, attitudes, and of course personalities. My youngest is the one I was most hoping to help as she seems the most insecure and most anxious of them. She is also the least likely to read or write without a teacher assigning it to her. My oldest reads with wild abandon, middle one just likes projects and is a people pleaser so she started right away on her book. My youngest, âwell, where is it?âđ¤Śđťââď¸ I donât want to force them to do this even though I think it would benefit them. I didnât think about how it would actually get done when I bought them. Maybe Iâll do one for me. So, in conclusion, I think this is a great concept and could be a good conversation starter with your kids and might enlighten them a bit. But they have to put in the work.
