I think it's a little advanced for my 7 year old, but I will hold on to it for when he's older. Has good strategies.
I enjoyed the way its less complex than a big CBT Guide . The intervention worked out as well. I wish there had been more info about the exercise and alternative ways.
Excellent resource for helping parents to bond with their kids, and a wonderful tool to help children self-regulate, and self-sooth
This has been THE BEST! My sensory sensitive son can easily become overwhelmed. We’ve been using mindfulness techniques, but I found this and realized it was the perfect health book for our homeschooling this year- mental wellness! The activities are quick and easy, they can also be used multiple times. You don’t have to go in order, you can pick and choose depending on what you need. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something fun, different, and useful for their home school health. Or anyone who has children who could benefit from mindfulness (which would probably be everyone!).
We also got the anger management book in the same series, and that is helpful for kids who are easily frustrated as well.
I like to incorporate mental health into our homeschool at the beginning of each morning. Discuss gratefulness, our strengths, accept ourselves, etc. I bought 5 books for my 3 children to work in as well as journals. This one bored my 9 year old son to tears. He felt stress doing it. I think a mindfulness book should be stressless and many others were for our family. But I think the activities and the expectation in this one just didn't work for my little one. He liked his gratitude journal for boys much better. I also had my 11 year old daughter look through this and she wasn't interested in taking ove.r her other 2 books were better.
I love using this workbook in my practice with kids. Great ideas for individuals and groups. I have recommended it to many children who have trouble with emotional regulation to work on at home over the summer.
