Insightful analysis of customer feedback on External Bluray Drives. Uncover compatibility, performance, and quality insights.
I like that it stores the cord when not in use, this is a picture item to bring while traveling to watch blu ray on a laptop.
This external drive is a good low budget device and works well if a drive is needed.
It is so unfortunate that I'll be returning this. I had been looking forward to having it.
When it works, it works fantastically.
But when it fails 8/10 times, I just don't have the spoons to keep fidgeting with it.
To use as an example, I have a box set of DvDs I love. It will play 2 out of 4 of them. The frustrating part comes in when the disc can recognize, and open the file location and names, but it cannot launch. The Media player files are there, but it won't start.
I've cross referenced the other working disc files and they all seem to be in good shape.
So I'm not sure if this is somehow user error, or something fickle in the product design.
I bounced around different media players, supportive software, nothing seems to be quite what this little guys needs.
I'll try another product and see if it is in fact user error, or tech incompatibility.
The first disc I tried worked right away, so when I put in disc two just for it to not work, was saddening. Disc three worked right away as well. So I'm not sure where the problem is.
This player is good for the money - it looks good, feels a little cheap but gets the job done, providing you have external software to use the drive (note that Blu-rays and VLC are not very compatible, you will likely need to pay for some other software). Soon after I got the player, my region 1 (US) DVDs would no longer play. Just before I shipped it back in frustration, I had the thought to test a European region 2 disc, and it worked perfectly. I was then able to use Linux's "regionset" utility to change back to 1 and it is currently functional. Rather unintuitive for a Chinese player(region 3/6) bought in America(region 1) would default to region 2, and lucky I happened to have a region 2 disc to diagnose the problem. Blu rays have no such trouble.
My order was for a DVD drive, and it works just like you would hope it should. Pretty much plug it in, and use your favorite DVD playing software, and it worked great.
I've been wanting an external Blu-ray drive for a while, and the POTVMOSL drive has been a great addition to my laptop setup. It's incredibly easy to use – just plug it in via USB and it's ready to go. I've used it to watch movies, back up files, and even burn some home videos to Blu-ray discs.
The drive is surprisingly fast, both for reading and writing discs. It's also relatively quiet, which is nice when I'm watching a movie in bed. The sleek, compact design makes it easy to take with me wherever I go, and the included carrying pouch is a nice touch.
I appreciate that it works with both USB 3.0 and Type-C ports, so it's compatible with a wide range of devices. I've tested it on both Windows and Mac laptops, and it's worked flawlessly.
My only minor complaint is that the cable could be a bit longer, but that's easily solved with an extension cable. Overall, this is a great little Blu-ray drive that's perfect for movie lovers, tech enthusiasts, and anyone who needs a reliable way to back up their data.
