This review is for the Volam Wireless Carplay Screen for Car with 2.5K Dash Cam, 1080p Backup Camera, 9.26". I bought this and it wasn't given for free.

I bought this because my 2020 Toyota Avalon doesn't have Android Auto just carplay even though Android has a 72% market share. Shame on Toyota.

So the Pros
1. Setup is easy Just plug it in and pair it with your phone. 2. Once paired android auto cam up instantly
3. The suction cup holds this unit firmly and securely. 4. My car has a backup camera so I used the one that came with this unit as a front parking aid. A poor man's birds eye view. It was easy to install and works great. 5. The front camera is crystal clear and records on the provided sd card. 6. The hands free voice option works great also especially in waze. You tell it where you want to go and a correct screen choice comes up on the screen.

I was apprehensive at first because of he one star reviews regarding the suction cup no holding and the unit failing. For me so far none of that has occured. So I am happy.
Cons
The only con is the suction cup. The one that came with my unit was so sticky I couldn't easily get it off my window and it left a sticky residue. I contacted the the carplay support on line and my concern was addressed the next day and they stated they would send me a new suction mount cup assembly. I received it pretty quickly considering it came from China directly.
I will edit this review if things go south
But for me. This product is a good buy and does what it advertises. Because of the suction cup issue I only gave it 4 stars BUT otherwise everything else so for is 5 stars

I ordered and received this in April 2025 and have used it only 2-3 times. The screen has now started malfunctioning with lines scrolling across it and randomly going black. Of course, I am outside of the return window by 30 days. Don’t waste your money.

Very happy with this device. Easy to hookup. Works really well with my iPhone. Hooking up the rear camera for my 2015 ford fusion was a bit of a project but got it done in an afternoon with the help of a YouTube video. The main issue was running the suppled a/v cord to the trunk. It’s not necessary to use the reverse camera if you don’t want to.

The interface is incredibly smooth, booting up instantly and allowing quick, real-time switching between screens and cameras. Carplay connection is rock-solid, and the large 9.26-inch display beautifully accommodates both CarPlay and the rear camera side-by-side.
Mounting the unit was easy to figure out, with multiple options available, and I found the perfect position for my car. The display size is just right, comfortable to view without obstructing the windshield or being a distraction. Its seamless connection with my phone for Waze and Google Maps, showing my car's position without any delay, is exactly what I needed for navigation.
Camera quality is impressive, even at night, with the front dash cam remaining clear. Voice-activated navigation is seamless, providing quick turn-by-turn directions. I love being able to listen to Spotify and have text messages read aloud, even responding hands free.

I bought this CarPlay device to modernize out older car, and I’m really impressed. Installation was fairly straightforward, and the instructions were clear. I mounted it on the dashboard using the included bracket, and it feels sturdy and secure.
The touch screen is responsive and bright enough to see in daylight. Wireless CarPlay connects quickly (usually within 10 seconds of starting the car), and everything works as expected — calls, maps, music, Siri — all seamless.
Built in audio quality is not too bad but it lets you connect your phone to the car BT audio which is very important feature for me.
Overall it offers excellent value for the price and makes everyday driving a lot more enjoyable and convenient.
