Review: Excellent Poncho with Good Coverage and Quality

This was used for hiking on the Long Trail in VT. We were in some major downpours this summer!
The poncho is large enough to cover you well, along with your pack. It has other uses using the grommets on the sides, as a back up tarp. It may be a little long for some, it would be easy to gather it a bit at the corners. Clip it or band it. It washes well after time spent in the mud too. The orange is a plus, you'll be easy to see :)

Yes, it is a bit more pricey than the 5 pack of disposable ones, but you don’t have to worry with this one. You are not getting wet, and it’s not going to tear on you. Big enough to fit your backpack under if you have one. The storage pouch is convenient and prevents the rest of your stuff getting wet.

Sometimes they have sales on certain colors so take advantage of that!

Bottom line, this poncho doesn’t actually keep out the rain. I suspect that is due to only having several flimsy snaps on each side to keep it together, so maybe it would work in a light drizzle. All I know is that I wore it while trekking in the mountains and everything got wet, which also lead to me getting sick. Additionally, it’s extremely hard to fit back into the cute little bag it comes in.

After getting caught in rain and hail in Yellowstone, we ordered these and they have been perfect. They roll up nicely into their little bag and don’t add much weight to the backpack. We have dug them out several times, most recently during another hail storm. The photo was taken from inside my hood. The ponchos kept us snug and dry.

I went to Scotland for a family event and it rained everyday. I wore this over a sweater and baseball cap and stayed completely dry. At night, I hung it in the shower and it was dry for the next morning's adventures. It took minimum room in my suitcase, too. #vacation saver!

This is an excellent poncho, really good quality and has really good coverage without leaving my legs overly exposed so it's definitely not too short.

My only complaint is that the convertible nature of the poncho into a groundsheet means that the side seams aren't completely sealed but are held together by buttons. It hasn't posed any really issues yet but if I had wanted a ground sheet, I'd have bought a ground sheet.

I just want a poncho.

Either way, it's not annoying enough to deduct a star, just something to consider before purchasing; great product otherwise.
