Comprehensive Guide to Hydroponics

This book does exactly what it says; shows you how to build several configurations of hydroponic systems. That's it! As in, just the parts that come into contact with the water. If you wanted any information on lighting for those systems (1 page) or water physicochem parameters (0.5 page), nutrients (3 pages) then this book is not for you. Good for system design, not expansive on the rest (although the sections on pest control and propagation, while extremely cursory, aren't bad). There's more than info on the net.

This book was a big let down as i am building a hydroponic system.
The grow light information is just very out dated it dose not cover all the newer lower watt LED lights.
The book shows you how to use non food safe items to build a system.. I would suggest you dont do that as many plastic and PVC pipes are not made for food safe or safe water use lots of bad advice in this book.
Then i wanted to learn more about grow times for different vegs and nope thats not covered.
Everything i wanted to learn is not in this book. I learned more watching free videos.

Shows simple, practical examples of all the popular hydroponic systems. Text is concise and thorough. Material lists are complete but there could have been fewer photographs and more diagrams to clear up construction details. For some reason the text is printed in grey ink rather than black which is hard on my old eyes. Highly recommended.

I read this book cover to cover and appreciated all the pros/cons, and alternative methods the author shared. Really comprehensive and easy to follow. We harvested salad greens and Asian veggies from our greenhouse all Winter long!! Highly recommend this one - THANKS!

I have had the hydroponic system for a month now and have plants growing nicely on the upper deck of the house. Growing things hydroponically is a fairly complicated process but it is a really fun and hopefully productive way to use time and to learn something new. The kit I bought is pretty complete but I think you really would want to have a pH and TDS meters and a hydro-specific nutrient product to get to a good mixture. If you are willing to put the time and effort into putting this system together, you will be happy that you ordered this product.
