  • Provides great Wifi for my WFT setup

    I'm using this wifi adaptor to get wifi for my work PC that I brought home. It works great - picks up the wifi from the router several rooms away and gives me strong enough wifi to get my work done. Highly recommended!

  • Works fine. UNTIL YOIR COMPUTER GOES TO SLEEP!

    It works great! Until you let your computer go to sleepā€¦. Multiple times this has happened to me. Everything was working great. Then I walked away from my computer for the day. When I got home, I wiggled the mouse to wake it up. No internet. Unplugged and plugged in this adapter, but still nothing. Restarting SOMETIMES gets it to work again, but most of the time, no. Iā€™ve had to uninstall and reinstall the driver multiple times to get it to show up. Even then sometimes it doesnā€™t even work. I might just get luck and have internet when I get home. Hit or miss though.

    Every other TP-Link product Iā€™ve owned has been fantastic. But definitely not this one. Too late to return, and definitely wonā€™t buy again.

    Also, this is the second one Iā€™ve owned. And yes, they both did this. Last one not as bad but still did.

    • Slow, laggy compare to mobile phone

      On the same wifi network and in the same location, my old iPhone from 2020 has a significantly higher download speed than this USB Wifi adapter. iPhone 2020 download speed is about ~400 Mbps, and computer with this WiFi adapter is ~200 Mbps.

      Yes the adapter was plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

      Ever since using this USB WiFi adapter, web browsing has been noticeably laggy and slow.

      It has a 2-star because I can get internet on a desktop.

      This is an inferior product.

      Works as expected. Used on an older HP desktop PC and helped me cut the chord. Fast speeds over WiFi 6. Plug and play as well. Took all of 30 seconds to connect and get online. Highly recommend it.

      I moved my office into a room in my home. I needed to access the internet. My home internet provider tried to sell me a new setup. A friend recommended an adaptor and found this one for me. The reception is great! I have no issues with accessing the internet. The price was reasonable as well.

    • Easy Wifi

      If you computer does not have a WiFi card install, this is the route to go. My older desktop performs quite well with this adapter, since it didn't have a WiFi card installed. Easy to plug and play and connects well with my router. Would recommend it.

    • Okay as a last resort ONLY

      I was disappointed in this network device. This is why:
      My wired speed is 982mbps. This wireless device only achieves 92mbps. (10 times slower)
      I sent it back to Amazon. And btw, I've owned other wireless network WiFi adapters with far greater speed. I bought this newer one thinking they've got to be better now days. I was wrong, they are not!

    • Great When it Works

      I use this on a Win 7 PC and for some odd reason between midnight and 1 AM daily it stops working. All my other wireless devices work just fine so I have to exclude any router issues to account for it.

      The rest of the time it works great.

      The issue is usually resolved by a restart but sometimes only a complete shutdown is needed. No such issues with my old WiFi adaptor.

      I have gigabit internet that is steady around 970mbps with LAN connection, got this adapter for my laptop, the fastest speeds are 120mbps when it is working well. Gaming is out of the question, all games lag terribly. Not even close to 1300mbps.

    • Overheats and has a weird issue I can't fully explain (but I will try)

      This device does not handle speeds over 4 MB per second very well at all. It gets extremely hot and will just completely stop working when trying to handle any speeds around or about 4 MB/s.

      When it stops working it usually just needs to be unplugged and plugged back in, but still very annoying.

      Another issue I've found is after a while (maybe a few weeks of constant use) it'll start doing this very odd thing where every half second or so it'll just drop all packets for a split second. The only way to stop it is to unplug it for a bit and plug it back in. Not sure if this is also heat related but I don't think so because when it starts happening it doesn't matter how much data I'm pushing and how fast.

    • Overall a little disappointed

      This is a very simple and straightforward to install wifi antenna for those who either cant install a PCIe one or do not want to. The signal gain is not bad, has a positionable antenna, and picks up both 2.4 and 5 ghz networks.

      I do have one large gripe with this product though: the driver. The manufacturer has not updated the driver for this adapter for some time, so simple security advancements from the last couple years are not available. Most notably, this device does not have a driver that supports WPA3. For this reason alone I am downgrading this product from 4 to 3 stars.
