  • I bought the creator kit along with the Cold Shoe mount and I couldn't be happier. I can attach any of my pro camera equipment without issue and really get some use out of it. The light isn't too bright, but it's bright enough for quick vids/pics. I didn't really like the little tripod it came with, but I just attach the MagSafe mount it to one I do like and there's no issue there. The little case is great for taking the grip and the light with me wherever I go.

  • While I really love the concept of this product, the magnetic hold just wasn’t enough for me. I almost lost my phone down a cliff on a hike and it has definitely taken some bad drops as well. It could be my type of use was not it’s intended purpose but I definitely wasn’t doing any vigorous activity at the times I almost lost/dropped my phone. I also had a regular tension hold selfie stick/stabilizer with me for the more “risky” stuff. Maybe I should have checked for 100% proper magnetic alignment but after almost losing it down a cliff…I decided to return it. Don’t get me wrong, i was able to casually walk arms slightly swaying with it “attached” to the stand but all it took was one small nudge to knock it off alignment and it lose its hold.

    Everything else about this product is awesome. It’s design, sleek look, easy attach/detach accessories and no requirement for an app to use made this a great choice! I really like that you could use the “dock” as a rechargeable battery AND turn off that feature if not needed. The selfie stand is stable and sturdy but again…it’s that magnetic hold which I’m sure is part of the reason the selfie stick isn’t extendable. Losing that hold at an extended distance could be bad.

    As much as I wanted to keep this, I’m just not confident that the magnet will fail when needed most.

  • Fault in manufacture

    The whole kit looks really good quality but the snap pod pictured is not threaded for it to screw onto the tripod / selfie stick

    Am returning goods as there seems no way to contact the seller direct. Shame really

  • Loses Bluetooth connection

    After being used for a while suddenly the trigger will operate the volume up controls and not take a photo.
    I have to disconnect everything and reconnect to get things working again

  • I like the idea of this allowing you to use your iPhone as though it was a traditional camera to take better pictures, and the selfie stick portion is excellent... However, when it comes down to the LED light... it does not provide enough light. It has a 3-level brightness. Will it light up the general area you are filming or taking a picture? Yes.

    I am the type of person who prefers very bright LED lighting and lighting that can go from very bright room-filling light to very dim light, and only external LED lights can achieve that. Many LED lights are made for phone photography. I would pair a 3rd party LED light with this if you need to have the bundle's SnapPod (stick) and SnapGrip (camera hold grip).

    Besides the weak light drawback, it is a solid product for what it is made for.

    If ShiftCam reads these reviews, please consider increasing the LED light's brightness on a future SnapLight revision.

  •  Please watch my video on the Shiftcam SnapGrip Creator Kit-unboxing and initial impressions. Here is my short written review:

    I bought this item to help me with my photography and videography. I'm using my iPhone more and more these days for both. I'm a photographer primarily using a traditional DSLR or mirrorless camera. I've been using my iPhone more and more in the past few years, especially for video.

    My initial impressions are positive. Packaging is attractive. That's important to some extent but that cost is definitely built into the price of this grip. The components in this kit (grip, ring light, selfie stick/mini tripod) are well-made and solid. The grip feels comfortable and sturdy. It doesn't feel cheap. It is rubber but a nice piece to hold on to. It doesn't creak or feel like it's going to fall apart in your hands. I would say the same for the ring light. It provides enough brightness for filming yourself and close range. It is well-made and snaps smartly onto the grip. The mini tripod legs are a bit flimsy. We'll see how they hold up over time. They should be fine for setting up at home or in your studio to film yourself at close range. I don't intend on using the selfie stick for filming outdoors as I don't usually do that type of videography but we'll see what the future brings.

    Here is what I like so far:
    1. Everything is well-made and fits together nicely. Nothing feels cheap.
    2. The grip is comfortable for photography. I feel like I'm using a traditional camera with this grip.
    3. The shutter button is responsive.
    4. The ring light works well at close distances
    5. Set up is easy and quick.

    Here are some concerns:
    1. While the magnetic connection is pretty strong, I worry that I may break the connection and drop the phone if I'm not a bit careful. The camera does move a bit if you are applying pressure. With some practice, I don't think this will be an issue but it is something I am going to keep an eye on.
    2. My iPhone is no longer portable or compact when using this grip. I was aware of this prior to my purchase but my phone will have to go into my bag like a camera would when I'm out with this grip attached.
    3. Price-this is an expensive purchase for what it is.
