  • Well written and captivating

    My 8-year-old son who is a self professed future engineer and techie cannot put this book down! Shortly after receiving this book after Christmas, he asked me to order basic electronics parts to put together some of the circuits described in this book, and has been working night and day putting together circuits, including a door alarm to ward off intruders into his bedroom.

    This book seamlessly combines some basic science principles with practical application in a way that all inquisitive minds, young and old, will be able to appreciate. A great learning tool that does not involve the screen and will equip our youth with the knowledge, tools, and skills that they will need in the digital future!

  • A great book for an older student interested in electronics

    A book for middle- to high school- students. The projects are well illustrated and the directions are alright. This book, unlike others in this genre, looks for ways to keep projects cheap. I really appreciated that. But, there are inconsistencies in the directions and it seems like some projects were not as well thought through as others.

  • Wonderful!

    My son asked for a circuit kit. We purchased one before and though nice, it was pricey for the things it provided. I decided to make my own kit using this book. I cannot say enough good things about this. I have not given it to my 12-year-old yet but he will love it. I read almost the whole book to purchase supplies for the experiments as part of his gift. The book makes the shopping list easy. Although other suppliers are listed as well, I went ahead and ordered everything through Jameco. I learned so much just by reading the chapters to purchase the supplies. Very well done. The book provides a stair-step approach to learning various aspects of electricity which I found perfect for a beginner. It was not overwhelming but I think it will be challenging enough to hold I interest. I love that the author said he wrote this book because he would have liked to have something like it as a child. It not only provides instructions but explains the rationale which I believe will be applicable to future endeavors.

    My 10 year old son loves this book. He has "graduated' from his electronic snap circuit sets to Arduino. I had a spiral binding put on the book for a few dollars so my son wouldn't ruin the spine with as much as he is going to look at this book.

  • Kid friendly yet challenging

    My twelve-year-old grandson loves this book. Read it from cover to cover the first few days he had it. He has completed many of the projects and is still going in this book. One thing I really like is that this book is not dummied down. It will challenge a kid and is definitely kid-friendly.

  • Awesome!

    I bought this book for my 12-year-old nephew a couple of months ago, and he loves it! He's already built many of the projects all on his own. I've also been looking through it, and the author explains the concepts in a really straight-forward way that even I can understand (and this topic is totally new to me). I recommend this book for both adults and kids.
