Crystal Hair Remover: Effective but with Limitations

Crystal Hair Remover: Effective but with Limitations

11 reviews between Aug 02, 2023 and Oct 28, 2023.

A crystal hair remover product that effectively removes hair but may struggle with fine hair and small crevices. It requires larger areas for optimal performance and needs lotion after use. Users recommend it for smooth legs with little effort, but caution those with sensitive skin. It can remove hair with repeated treatment and is compared to sandpaper. Some users find it time-consuming and not effective for quick shaving. However, it is praised for providing independence to individuals with Asperger's and for removing keratin bumps.

  • HONEST REVIEW: OUCH BUT ALSO IT WORKS

So I was curious about these things because I am a depressed 24 year old who is anxious about razors and am horrible at upkeeping them in general. And I've been WANTING to try one of these out of sheer curiosity so I finally broke and bought one and I'm typing this as I am freshly out of the shower with stinging legs.

It DEFINITELY WORKS! My legs feel silky smooth like they would after shaving normally, and it definitely took me personally less time to shave my legs. Along with this my legs usually hurt a little bit after shaving (sensitive skin + im definitely not great at upkeeping the blades so they might be dull) but this kind of pain is more like a sunburn-esque pain than a razor burn pain.

It definitely exfoliates; I saw and felt chunks of dry skin come off of my legs, however it also seemed to extra peel some sensitive sore spots and it Definitely started bleeding a bit. It's most likely my bad; I'm not skilled at using the product and most of the pain could be from me over-using it in areas because I wasn't sure it got all the hair, but it could also just be a side effect of it in general.

People talk about "rashes", I think the painful spots after scrubbing *too* hard is definitely the culprit for that. I'll be figuring out exactly how hard I'm supposed to scrub and for how long and hopefully the sunburns go away, I'll try and update this if I can remember to.

All in all: It works on your legs and arms. It doesn't work on your pits/'bikini area' (although it could be because it's a jungle down there for me personally) but honestly even if you are shaved in those areas and it could work, it might be too uncomfortable using it. It's a good backup to a razor if you're feeling lazy for sure and works so I can't fault it for that.

An edit a few days later:
The day after it still HURT REALLY BAD like a bad sunburn from peeling the layers of skin off, day 3 it seems all of the skin is finally healing! Last night I also realized that I had basically left a giant cut of scraped skin on my leg so BE CAREFUL when using it, you can absolutely rub your skin raw and peel skin off without realizing it in the shower! The areas where I didn't go over it 3-4 times are completely fine and it's definitely just from me scraping way too much on certain areas so be careful!

  • Razorless hair remover

I didn't have high hopes that this would work. It really works. I had over a weeks growth on my legs and it looks like I shaved. I put on a body oil afterwards, because I did have a slight itching. Nothing unbearable.

  • Super

My daughter has Asperger’s and isn’t great with razors or shavers. So I bought her this and she loves it and has her independence back. No more mom shaving her legs for her and that makes a huge difference. She loves this and another reviewer wrote about keratin bumps being removed with this and she’s right. My daughter uses this for her legs and then she tries it on the back of her arms for the keratin bumps and it removed 90% of them and they haven’t come back for over a month. I may buy this for myself soon.

  • It works.

I was skeptical about trying this product, since so many videos are of people with already shaved legs. As you can see, my kegs were bad and this thing wiped the hair away leaving behind silly smooth legs with little effort.
    Highly recommend buying this.

I thought this would be easy and good, but then again bought this without any thought to check reviews before buying as usual. I rubbed gently on my arm just to test feel and immediately felt slight burn as if I was just scratching my skin off rather than hair .BUT I did look at the product after and it did have some hairs on it but didn't do a good enough job. So unless u wanna scrap your skin off and burn just to remove hair I don't suggest it.

  • Don’t buy this junk

I bought this hoping to do less shaving with a razor but here we are this product did not remove hair it just gave me a razor burn and removed a little bit of dead skin I would not recommend buying this it takes way to much time to do if your hoping to shave your legs quickly an absolute waste of money in my opinion

  • Decent hair remover, Excellent Exfoliator, works on Keratosis Pilaris!

While this crystal hair eraser does remove hair it is not the reason I will continue to use it at least once per week. Before I get into why that is, I will first talk about how well it works at what it is marketed to do, remove hair.

With a bit of practice, this hair remover is able to remove 95% of my leg hair in about 15 minutes. It struggles with the very fine hair on the backs of my thighs, and the small crevases around my ankles. It needs a larger area to work best, as small circles with gentle pressure work best to remove the hair. It is not as fast as it would be if I were to shave, but I don't need to used shaving cream or running water to lubricate. Using lotion is a must after using the crystal hair remover, but you should be doing that with shaving as well.

It took about a 2 weeks of every other day use to get my skin used to this method of hair removal. My skin was pretty irritated about 2 hours after hair removal and that irritation lasted about 6 hours, my skin was pretty itchy after the day after use for the first few times. After 2 weeks of conditioning I have about 2 hours of slight irritation, and then we are good. There is som itching from time to time, but another application of moisturizer usually takes care of that.

My hair grows back at the same rate as it does with normal shaving, but it is softer. My hair grows fast, even shaving everyday I would be prickly the next day. With the crystal hair remover my legs aren't perfectly smooth the following day, but I am not prickly.

Now for the reason that I love this crystal hair remover....

I struggle with Keratosis pilaris. It is a skin condition where my hair follicles have deposits of keratin, making it seem like I always have goosebumps, and never truly smooth legs. This started on the backs of my thighs in my 20s and has since spread down to the tops of my calves, and halfway up my butt. The only thing that helps is exfoliation and moisturizing. I have tried many methods but nothing helped much, until now.

After a month of use the bumps on my calves are GONE, and the backs of my thighs and my butt are vastly improved and get better with each use. I am BLOWN AWAY.

Going forward I will continue to use the crystal hair eraser at least once a week to keep my condition in check. When I need to remove hair quickly before an event I will use a regular razor, but if I have the time and I won't be out and about for a few hours I will more than likely use the hair eraser.

For the price and what it has done for me. I give this product and easy 5 stars.

  • It works on fine hair

I was interested in the claim of this being a hair remover so I went ahead and ordered it, it’s a great exfoliator that can remove hair, dependent on the type and thickness. If at first it doesn't remove your hair, treat the spot again and it should do the trick, If I had to compare this to something it would be sandpaper. I think this would be a great exfoliator to use before using self-tanner, or even just a nice body scrub.
