  • Hardcover edition is not in color

After reading the reviews I decided to pay more for the hardcover edition since a reviewer said the softcover edition did not include color images. Upon arrival I found out this hardcover edition is lacking color as well. Save your money and go with the softcover edition.

  • No color pictures in the paperback version

I'm a bit disappointed with the book because it did not come in color. I realize that I should have checked but it did not state this directly for the paperback version. But the book condition is still good.

  • Techy, hard to read, very outdated.

This book is VERY outdated and I wouldn't have rented it if it weren't for a class I took. I'm just glad I didn't buy it! There is some good information but you have to wade through all the other stuff and like most technical books, it's pretty poorly written. I don't know if there aren't a lot of RS books out there or not. But this one needs an update if it's going to be used as a text book.

  • Good text, but dated and overpriced

I read a good bit of this textbook for a class. It's now pretty dated and really needs an update. Also its very annoying that you pay so much for a book and you still have to flip to the middle to see color plates! I'll change my rating when/if the price comes down.

  • Dated

While well written and well organized, this text/reference book is badly out of date in the reapidly changing field of remote sensing. There are better text books available on unchanging topics such as the physics of remote sensing and much more up-to-date texts on the imaging systems of today (2012).

Until a new edition is out, this one should be avoided.

  • Penn State Geog 497g requirement

I purchased this book while enrolled in Penn State's Geospatial Intelligence certificate program. I have enjoyed the contents and the book does a great job of covering a wide variety of Remote Sensing principles without getting too bogged down in the technical jargon. I would highly recommend reading this for a great overall perspective on Remote Sensing.
