  • This is not for the average 6 - 10 year old as advertised

    I intended for my middle school grandchild to begin to learn how to code. While Scratch seems like a good starting point this is NOT a self study book. It definitely requires an adult support person to decode the explanations of the author. Luckily I am a retired systems professional so I have a base that many grandparents may not have, but it clearly will require you to understand the instructions and then translate them into age appropriate instructions.
    Fine print.... Scratch does not work with Internet Explorer. This is mentioned on page 6 of the book. This information should have been provided in a "system requirements" section.

  • Really fun and easy coding scratch book!

    this is a really good book and you should buy/borrow it on kindle or computer.im just 8 years old and i love this book.if you like this book too, i would recommend you also read other scratch books or read a book that telles you about python .the auther wrote the python book too.if your not sure if you want to buy this book, i would recommend this book to people who like these book(s):python books, JavaScript books or other books.i also would recommend this book to kids 8~12.if your child is smaller than 8, i would recommend a website close to this one named Scratch.Jr witch is just like scratch but not as complicated so it may be hard to make games, but it still will be very fun.why i know that?its because i have played on it on the ipad when i was about 4-6 years old.even though the book was a little long, i still enjoyed reading (and playing) it.

  • Good book for my niece

    My niece is learning coding in school and I thought this might be good for her, so I got it....and, she liked it. It helped her code and understand better than just the class alone. My brother comfirms that it wsa helpful and easy to read (he's in IT).

  • Excellent beginner programming

    Scratch is a great way for anyone, not just kids, to learn programming skills. It's simple and well thought out so perfect for beginners. This book walks you through programming 10 different games step by step. Great explanations and the graphics are super helpful.
