Valentina's BBQ in Austin offers delicious brisket and ribs that are tender and flavorful. The sides are also excellent, and the atmosphere is casual. However, some customers have mentioned issues with slow service and porta-potty bathrooms. Overall, the food quality is highly recommended and worth the wait.

This former food truck is now a brick and mortar restaurant on South Main in Buda in the Buda Mill and Grain company. They do not serve breakfast on Monday. We went at 1130am, fast service, we sat at the bar. Andy was very helpful....The food is so good it makes me want to move here. The chips & queso w/brisket and avocado - please! I feel like our state has limited food. The brisket sandwich was amazing, per my husband. The vinegar cabbage slaw was light and refreshing. I think I am going to send them a thank you card from my taste buds. Whatever traditions the owners of Valentina's carry on, they are spot on with this food. I seriously came back to Austin this year to enjoy the food and our very first stop was Valentina's. Can I get a witness, cause dam.More The food is so good it makes me want to move here. I was anxious to try Tex-Mex on my first trip to Texas having heard the term. We came with family who just moved here, had been here and liked it. There was very little on the menu to chose from and my partner had trouble...finding something she wanted, she ended up with the pulled chicken sandwich and she liked it. I had two different tacos, the smoked carnitas was okay, the other had refried beans, which were good, and noodles, which weren't, and I forgot what meat was in in as I only took 2 bites, it was very strange. From what I could tell Tex-Mex is BBQ put into Mexican style dishes, kinda ruining both. Today someone in Austin told us this place isn't really Tex-Mex, it's BBQ; so maybe I haven't had Tex-Mex yet but doubt I'll try it again unless I know it's really Tex-Mex, whatever that may be.More finding something she wanted, she ended up with the pulled chicken sandwich and she liked it. Ran out of food on a Friday evening. Way to go people. Every food business owner knows Friday is when most people go out to eat and you ran out of food? No sign on the door, nothing.
They have an instituted an illegal tipping and clock-in policy. Avoid at all cost. Not to mention you'll be waiting about an hour for your food that was cooked yesterday.
They don't believe in AC when it is 100 degrees outside. The stand in line to order food is close to 45 minutes in line at 6PM on a Saturday. If you want alcohol, that is a separate line that is 1 19 minute wait....The music was skipping. I haven't got the food but I know good BBQ and even if this is a 10 the other stuff makes this a do not go to.More The music was skipping. We had a pulled pollo taco and a smoked brisket taco…THE BEST!! You really only need 1 taco because of the size. The guacamole on the tacos was limey and delicious. The queso was also delicious (a little spicy if you dip deeply and put...a lot on your chip). We sat outside on the “front patio” and the staff were very kind and helpful! We had not been to Valentina's before, but it was high on our agenda of places to try this year. At Valentina's you place your order at the trailer window, take a number, and claim your territory at one of many picnic tables while you...wait.
We settled on smoked brisket and pulled pork tacos, pollo fajita and a side of chips and queso. Everything was okay, not particularly remarkable, but was good anyway. The meats were seasoned and tender. Served on their own homemade tortillas, with guacamole, salsa and a wedge of lime to squeeze.
We waited 30 minutes for our food after we already ordered, but didn’t get our order complete. Showed the staff our order receipt and asked for them but he didn’t get back.
15 minutes after, we had to go to back to the food truck to get the rest of our order.
Get the queso. It was our highlight.More wait.

The drive is well worth it. I got both breakfast specials and there were phenomenal. Barbacoa and rib tips were as juicy and tender as you could ever imagine. Homemade tortillas are near perfect. Friendly and quick service. Definitely the best bbq tacos I have...had. My most enjoyed meal in Austin so far. I would eat here weekly if I lived in Austin.More had. A bit far from downtown Austin, but in December with the less than usual traffic it is worth a drive for a good brunch before 11:00. Pick the breakfast tacos with brisket sandwich. Excellent choices…
Visited Valentina's for a Sunday lunch treat. Had a brisket taco, some fresh guacamole, and homemade queso. It literally melted in my mouth. Had been visiting Austin and sampling BBQ at some of the more famous places, to include Black's BBQ. None had better brisket....Worth the short trip south of Austin... go early because when they've sold all the brisket, it's another day before you can try again.More Worth the short trip south of Austin... go early because when they've sold all the brisket, it's another day before you can try again.
Valentina's may not look like much from the outside, or the inside, either, but the brisket and chorizo breakfast tacos are sensation. For full details see John tanners bbq blog and search "Valentina's"
After reading about this place for years I finally gave it a try for takeout. All of the tacos were completely dry and really overly salted. Now, don't get me wrong, I like to be heavy handed with the salt but this was overpowering. Even...the pulled pork sandwich was WAY over salted. After getting home and trying a bit of everything, we opted to go elsewhere for food. It was so bad I would rather have thrown $60 in the garbage than eat it. Valentina's was definitely off the beaten path, but it was worth every mile and minute.
I wasn't entirely sure which meat I wanted to try so I got a 1/4 pound of the pulled chicken and 1/4 pound of the chicken fajita. It's great that...they will let you split the meat order, as, in my case, it allows you to sample a little bit.
It came with a tortilla, but I added on an extra tortilla. Altogether, my meal came to $10, which for the quality is a super great deal.
I preferred the pulled chicken to the chicken fajita, and if I were to return, I think I would stick to the pulled chicken. I didn't *love* the barbecue sauce. I think if I lived there, it would definitely be a regular place, but I would probably take it to go, and then use more my style of barbecue sauce. (I am more of a Memphis Sweet kind of girl)
The homemade tortillas were outstanding. Out-standing. The gal said that they sell them by the piece or by the dozen. If I were a local, I would 100% buy my tortillas here and not from a grocery store. I can't remember the price she told me for the dozen, but it would absolutely be worth it.
As far as atmosphere, it was an experience, and I mean that in the very best way. I'm under the understanding that they have or will be moving into a brick-and-mortar location, which...good for them. But, I still love the setup. They have cornhole sets which is great. And once you get out of your vehicle, this divine smoky smell just hits you.
Most people took their food to go. There was a little open-air patio with picnic tables by the cornhole sets. But, they also have a lovely little covered dining area. It was a chilly day when I was there, so I think I got lucky, as far as there being plenty of seating to choose from. But, the dining are had a very barn-wedding-esque feel to it.
The employees were so friendly. And I cannot stress this enough- they seemed very genuine. Being genuine is something that is hard to fake, and also hard to teach. Delicious! Everything we had was so good. The Real Deal Holyfield with brisket had a generous slice of very tender brisket. The fried egg was a nice change from a typical breakfast taco. The potato, egg, and cheese was also good and more like a...regular breakfast taco. Husband added beef fajita to it and said it was not tough at all.
I had the brisket taco and pulled chicken taco. Both were really good and huge. I only needed one taco and next time would opt for only the brisket. It was my favorite of the two.
We also had the queso with brisket. Really good. I’d suggest giving more chips with the medium size. We only ate half before we were out of chips. Luckily they have lids so we took the rest home to enjoy later.More regular breakfast taco. Husband added beef fajita to it and said it was not tough at all.

Good BBQ. I ordered the ribs and they were definitely above average. But I feel that I was tricked into going here. Let me explain. This is more of a food truck than a proper restaurant. A food truck with a large open-air shack attached...to it. Okay for a warm day, but it was freezing when we were there.
But the absolutely worst thing about this place were the 2 porta-potties. Note: AVOID AVOID AVOID!
I have seen few things in my life as DISGUSTING as those toilets. One literally was filled to the brim. The other was very close and somehow the urinal was completely full. Very disappointed after seeing some good reviews on youtube. BBQ was just Ok. Service was very slow. No chicken on the menu. Not only was it porta potty only but they were disgusting.
The food is mind blowing delicious!! Everything we ate was amazing! I highly recommend if you in the Austin area it is a must go the pictures don’t do it justice!!
