Tacos were amazing. We went for a small snack. The chicken tacos were so good. The queso is amazing with a little spice.
This was our first meal arriving in Austin. I went with the recommendations the cashier made and ordered: Trailer Park, Baja Shrimp, Mr. Orange, Democrat. They were all very good and full of flavor. We also got a side of street corn.
I had great expectations for Torchy's, as it had been raved about by many. Our experience lived up to the hype. On a friend's recommendation, we had the shrimp taco, the tipsy chick taco and the queso. All 3 things were OUTSTANDING. The tipsy chick...is the best taco I've ever eaten. We don't have a Torchy's location near us, but are planning future trips around where we can return to Torchy's!More is the best taco I've ever eaten. Every time we come to Austin we have to make a trip here. We had several tacos to share and the queso and chips. The tipsy chicken was our favorite out of all the tacos . See you next year.
I am writing this review so you DO NOT go to Torchy’s Tacos. I went to this location for lunch with someone I work with. We both had the airstream salad and both had food poisoning not even a second after leaving the restaurant. After...we found a restroom immediately, we went back to complain to the manager. Not only was he RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL, he made a nasty comment. The person I was with has special needs, and has trouble voicing his opinion and the manager spoke back and said you have different symptoms and blamed us and walked away. Instead of waiting for this horrible manager and terrible customer service, I chose to write this negative review again. If you want food poisoning, I would never ever go back here! I also think the customer service and management is awful! Please take my review into consideration, because I hardly ever complain or write negative reviews. I will be adding the same review to trip advisor so everyone can read about our experience! Needles to say, we are still running to restrooms.More we found a restroom immediately, we went back to complain to the manager. Not only was he RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL, he made a nasty comment. Torches is much better than you average fast food chain. Miles above, really. The decor, food options and atmosphere make it a must visit if you see in the area.
That this is rated at the top of Tripadvisor for best mexican restuarant in Austin breaks my hear. Yeah, the tacos are pretty good, but come on... Don't Taco Bell our city with this.
We were in Austin for visit & site seeing.
Decided to taste different food variations & Mexican was on top priority.
Ordered food, chicken fajita. Liked very much.
Thanks TORCHY,S TACO
Fantastic 'fast casual' with fairly authentic and flavorful options! One taco or burrito was enough per person. if you're really hunger or a big eater 2 tacos.
Austin has so many wonderful taco places that people likely often forget Torchy’s. We really enjoyed our four tacos between two people and would absolutely go back.
Was looking for tacos on a Tuesday and tried out Torchy’s. Gotta say they are pretty dang good, ordered two and they filled me up fast. I’d likely come back again next time I’m in Texas
The brilliance of Torhcys is that they have a full bar with fast-food tacos so it makes it a great place to sit with friends without spending a fortune and having to wait for the full restaurant experience. The tacos are pretty good, but understand...this is a chain and not a mom-n-pop place.More this is a chain and not a mom-n-pop place.
We stopped for a quick bite to eat between our shopping on South Congress Ave. We just ordered two "Democrat" tacos, and they were so good! Everything was cooked perfectly and had delicious flavor!
Food was fresh and really tasty with a good variety of soft tacos and meats. Great chips and cheese (queso). Do drop by in December to avoid the lines.
No quality standards. Differing portion sizes. One 11$burrito with just cheese, beans and rice and no mofaux. Mofaux taco with 3 pieces of Veggie meat. Prices look cheap but you need 3 tacos to fill you. Total crooks
This was a great spot for our family. Quick service with tons of choices. I loved the queso so much! Reasonable priced. I had a fried chicken and jerk chicken taco. Yum!
First of all they advertise margaritas but they didn’t have them maybe lost their liquor license or maybe because it was a holiday they could serve alcohol? Either way no margaritas so be aware. The staff was not friendly pretty rude and short. It seems...More
I was so disappointed in their breakfast. I expected their beans to be homemade and not that out of a can. Please torchy‘s, make your own beans instead of purchasing them out of a can. However, in all fairness I have not yet tasted their...More
Spent a week in the Austin area and came here based on a friend's recommendation. It was most of my family's favorite place we ate at. First for this location, they do have their own parking behind the restaurant, which is convenient for this area....More
Came here with my daughter and her friend while helping her move to Austin. First time visit and was pleasantly surprised on a Sunday night. Great tacos, chips, queso and nice $4 Bloody Marys on the weekend.
Super clean (new restaurant), good vibe, excellent service.
Recommended to us whilst waiting in queue at another taco restaurant.
So left and found this.
Nice decor
Very reasonable
Liked the portion size
Tacos delicious
Nothing like a refreshing frozen margarita on a hot Texan day. The good was also good. I didn’t find burrito wasn’t as good as the tacos but all still good.
I've heard so many great things about torchys that i had to check it out. It exceeded my expectations and provided the best meal and the best price i found fitting the whole trip. Definitely going they bring one to detroit soon!
The tacos were great, but a little overpriced. This is located right on So Co Ave. Somewhat of a fast food concept and no alcohol.
We went for breakfast on the advice our our son who lives in Austin, then kept going back. Reasonable prices and delicious
Quick and cheap! I love the food and atmosphere here. This is a good spot to eat at especially if you have plans to day drink or start a long day!
We enjoyed the tasty tacos, fried beans, and rice. The food and service were very good and the prices reasonable. It was so good that I went back for seconds.
Easy to find. Small parking lot behind building. Parking also on the street. Get in line, order your food, they give you a number that you put on the metal disc on the table. Chips and queso very good. Some heat but not too bad....More
Excellent tacos, especially the tipsy chick, and even better chips and queso. But know what to expect. The most service you get is they bring out the food, don’t expect them to ask if you need anything else or bring water or anything. The atmosphere...More
The food was super good, couldn’t have been happier. Quick service also. I was pleasantly surprised.
I thought I was just getting a quick taco but I’ll totally come back again!
My first time at Torchy's Tacos in Austin. Good Service. Nice Menu. My son who ate with me says the have the best fish tacos in Austin. Check out Torchy's Tacos.
We are an espanic family. Party of six.

A decent place.
I love torchys, used to always go in the woodlands. This was a really nice location and very cool scene

I loved this place. All of the tacos we had were amazing (PS. order them "trashy" and the sangria/frozen margarita was on point. I cannot remember what the name of it was...sangria swirl or something like that. I call it a very dangerous slurpee!
We tried Torchys. The order was wrong. We ordered shrimp taco bowl. It had no shrimp. Also the brisket tacos, xtra greasy. Worst $55 ever spent.
Love the atmosphere, casual and great food. The mixed drink selection was great and price is just right.
We had tasty tacos, queso, and guacamole and chips (so light and crispy!!) at two different Torchy’s locations. It’s mostly fast food style. The margaritas and sangria were both delicious too.
Outstanding food. Great selection and location. Very good service from employees. Nice decorative windows. Nice seating for tourists.
I cant believe they havent partnered with a tortilleria for corn tortillas. Theyre using store bought!! My tortillas not even cooked on the democrat. Little fried avocado on taco. Wife couldnt find underneath lettuce & tomato. Maybe torchys should stick with chips n queso. Very...More
Can't visit Austin without having breakfast tacos and these are some of the best - but not just breakfast tacos but a whole slew of different varieties - loved the pulled pork with tomatillo sauce.
Excellent tacos! After a long day in Austin we were so tired and hungry. Had these delivered and they were delicious. Everyone (5 of us) loved them! Could eat them everyday!
Everything is so Delicious. Check out the secret menu as well. The Green chile pork taco was a trip highlight. Best Queso I’ve ever had!
We went to get some food to go. It took a little time to get our order. I had the Crossroads (brisket) and a brushfire (chicken). I did not care for the crossroads. The soft corn tortilla had a waxxy taste and smell. The brushfire...More

Each of us had two tacos each, which was plenty for lunch, though a really hungry person might want three. I had an independent and an avocado, both on corn tortillas.
Solid tacos, with a variety of choices, excellent queso. We’ve had better Tex Mex in Austin. Not bad for a quick meal.

I cannot speak highly enough of the delicious food at Torchy’s. We were in Austin for a couple of days on a trip and I am only sad that we didn’t get to go more than once. Super affordable and fresh. Absolutely delicious.
OMG the best beef barbacoa tacos ever. Fried avocado was good too and love they have hibiscus tea. Will be back tomorrow. Nice covered outdoor seating area, friendly service.
