Digital Photography Complete Course: A Comprehensive Guide for Beginners and Advanced Photographers

If you’re like me and don’t know squat about cameras or photography, this book is for you. It covers everything I needed to know and was in a nice format that made learning this field very easy.

My only suggestion is that you buy the book, read it, and then purchase your camera of choice. Had I done this, I wouldn’t have purchased the camera I did, but one that fit my needs and interests more. However, this book has helped me get the results I wanted from my camera. Highly recommend!

Should make it more user friendly and compact. Normally no one going to read hundred of pages to take few shot of photo.
Need simple setting guidance.

It is a good value for the money. I think the only suggestion I would recommend a video with the book for illustration.

This book, Digital Photography Complete course, is great. You will learn everything you need to know in 20 weeks, just like it says. It takes you from the very beginning of working with your camera to taking the kind of photo you want. It’s full of information. It’s easy to read and follow the instructions, lots of pictures to help understand. I have several photography book and this one is better then all the rest. Make this your first photography book to get.

It is layer out well and offers tips and tricks along the way

I am using it for a guide to new-to-me intro to digital photography, including exposure to photo shop etc.

This book takes you from a beginners level through an expert level. Explains different items related to digital photography. Then provides you with a photography assignment. Once you’ve completed it shows you had to review it to make sure you did it correctly. All of this is designed for you to complete within a 20 week program. I’ve shared this books title with friends in my photography club.

I ordered this book to homeschool my highschooler in a digital photography class. I am a photographer, so I knew a lot of the info in the book, but I wanted something that would put it all together and make it easy to teach the concepts. This book works great for that. The pictures and layout are beautiful and the info is great.

I first tried a Dummies book but it was so wordy I struggled to get through it. I even tried to make my own quizzes. This book is a colorful delight and even has assignments and quizzes!

The format of this book is fantastic. It’s broken down into weekly sections that include pre/post tests as well as exercises to practice what it’s teaching. It’s also a hardback with beautiful photos, making the price a great bargain.

Pages cut off making the book worthless.

The book's name is marketing. This the book explains almost zero. It's just an intro to photography.

Step by step guide for full understanding of digital photography. I had a full knowledge of film SLR and I found this very helpful and informative. The only suggestion would be to have a chapter dedicated to shooting portraits. I loved this book! Thanks! Chuck

Great book with a lot of information, pictures, descriptions and assignments. Did not expect it to be this good! Very satisfied. Fast delivery and well packaged. Definitely recommend. If you’re a beginner or intermediate photographer this is the book you need.

Horrible layout in Kindle try to increase text size is a joke. Pages do not fit kindle page and won't rotate. I would like to get my money back for this

This is one of those books that seems to answer every question that you might have about digital photography! I was amazed!

Nice book - nice graphics

I wanted to take up photography as a new hobby but I didn't know where to start but this helped fill in things for me. Very helpful and worth it.

More overview than complete, but, if one were to complete all the exercises as suggested, one would surely become at least competent. Although, a lot of money would be spent along the way: this is a criticism of photography as a hobby, not the book. Very well illustrated to the point at which my (ancient in Apple terms) iPad Pro struggled to move to the next page sometimes displaying only two fifths of a page. Judicious tapping solves the problem eventually.

This is a great course!

This book is filled with great information BUT it is formatted in a way that makes viewing it with Kindle frustrating. Steps 1 and 2 are on page 1 while steps 3 and 4 are on page 2 BUT steps 5 and 6 follow step 2 on page 1. This book need to be reformatted so that you can read steps 1 - 4 on page 1 and then steps 5 - 6 on page 2.

I am enjoying the book it is very informative. However the binding was damaged during shipment and I had to tape it back together not a big deal however still disappointing.

This us a gull course in digital photography. Basic simple lesson you can follow and go from novice to expert

You do need to know a little bit about camera and photography but it is a nice self paced course.

One thing I love is that this is completely different than the one my friend bought. Hers has those sleeve covers which I hate about some books. If you want to learn about photography without paying for a course this could be your alternative to that. Greet introductions and quizzes to make sure you understand it.

This is my goto. Years later I still dig this out to refresh my memory. Not in depth on anything but a little bit on everything.

I've only just started to get into this book but I'm really happy with the quality of it and how the pages feel. They're thick and glossy which lends itself nicely for photography. I really like that it's written out to break things down week by week. Gonna take some cool pics this week!

This new digital photography course book by DK is fabulous! Even being an iPhoneographer, I find so much useful information here in terms of photo techniques, composition ideas, etc. I've only perused several sections, too. It's loaded with vibrant and illustrative photos. Although editing helps are via Photoshop, the information is generally similar across other editing apps. Text is easy to comprehend, backed up with helpful visuals. I'd give this book 10 stars if I could. Highly recommend the hardback version!

Really good book for an amateur like myself

Wow, this is a very detailed 20-week course in digital photography. Each chapter, designed to be completed in a week (if you can), is chocked-full of information and practical shooting assignments. DK publications set the standard for quality and this book is well worth the price.

It is filled with information. I am using it as a guide to study for my PP Certification exam, along with other study guides has been a great help. Wish me luck!!

Exactly what I was looking for. I recently bought my first DSLR and wanted a book to help give me a good grounding in photography. This book is easy to follow and will give you a fairly deep insight into how to take great photos.

I had been using a digital camera for 4 years when I found this book. There sure was a lot that I didn't know! Thank you so very much for such an easy and detailed book.
I wish I could find one like this for Photoshop CC 2021.

A terrific book with a multitude of examples, considerations and activities for all levels of photographers. I read through in about 10 weeks combing a couple of chapters at a time to take advantage of the activities in the same setting. Has almost 350 pages and a great glossary. Highly recommend this book.

Lo recomiendo! tiene actividades, practicas y examenes. esta basado en cualquier camara no alguna marca especifica. yo me ayudo con el manual original de mi camara para entender especificamente el modelo y marca de la mia. Pero con el libro puedes usarlo para cualquier modelo marca.

I have bought two books before ,but this one is the best in market 👍

I checked many books on the topic and they were written in very chaotic manner and
the material was so chopped and thrown i pieces that were out of order and disorganized
and add to that the visuals being totally boring and blah...

This book is just prefect. Hard covers, beautiful content, superbly organized and illustrated.

This book is just fantastic tool for someone who is entering the world of digital fotography
and can lead you through the new and unfriendly forest like the best of the friends.
When you emerge on the other side of the wisdom you will be a pro.

I got a dslr camera last Christmas and didn’t know the settings on it so I decided to buy this book and I’m glad I did. It has so much information wrapped into it with pictures as well. I think the price wasn’t that bad considering how much I’m going to learn from this book.

I purchased it as a gift & the person enjoyed it. However, the book came damaged on the outside. That was the 2nd time I received an item from Amazon that was rough looking or dirty. I didn't have time to return those items, but in the future I will, bc that is unsatisfactory.

Covers most aspects of digital photography.
Relies a little too much on specific editing software and specific cameras.
Wish there was some more info on how lenses work

Should've got this book when I started photography but even after started for so long, it's so useful. I've had 3 books from DK and this also doesn't disappoint. Already at week 2 and it's like I've been loaded with so much. Things are made simpler and very engaging. I recommend for all beginners as well as enthusiasts. Just follow from wek one till the end with lots of practice and you'll be fine.

I did just start reading this book, so am not far into it, but already it's been helpful to me. I've been taking photos for a long time, and this book is teaching me some new ideas which are helpful. I do recommend this book that is for sure. I bought two at the time, but one was for someone else. I'm quite sure that person will enjoy it too.

This book was different from the others on my shelf. I did film photography for many years then made the switch to digital. There are differences and you need to know them. I felt this book was very clear in its explanations. If your getting one book this should be it.

Perfect for beginners such as myself. I honesty just completed week one and I have enjoyed learning some easy to understand photography ideas. I would recommend this book.

Hardback, brand New.

This review does not cover the book itself which appeared to be decent, at least to the point I was able to read it. Rather, it addresses how readily Amazon will implicitly change the terms under which they sell their digital content, and throwing their customers under the bus while doing so.

When I purchased the book last summer I opted to add it to my Amazon Cloud Reader collection. The reason is that I prefer reading on my laptop over reading on a tablet or a phone. I was reading off and on for a few weeks, attempting to return to it after taking a break. Lo and behold, the book will no longer open in cloud reader. Instead, I am getting a message that Cloud Reader could not open the book (it could before) but that I could install a free Kindle Reader app and read it that way. I don't have a Kindle and I don't want one because I found my laptop more pleasing on my eyes that any Kindle I have tried. I certainly don't want to read a book full of large pictures on a small cell phone. And the download links won't work for my laptop because I am not running Windows (or MacOS) and it was not made clear at the time of purchase I might some day need one just to read that book. Needless to say, I would not have purchased the digital version of this book in the first place had those strings attached clearly been laid out, or that Amazon may change terms unilaterally at any moment of their choosing.

I was trying but I could not find a link to complain to Amazon directly. I am therefore using a book review as the only recourse to vent my anger. If you are the book author reading this, I realize it's probably not your fault. Rather, it's Amazon screwing your readers on your behalf.

My kids got me this for Christmas I have not used my camera in years due to theft. I just got a new one and needed a refresher. This boon is so good about explaining everything ! It also has projects to try which is what helps ppl up their photography game! Thank you to the author

Not much to say, it looked like a great teaching tool as a gift for an aspiring photographer. Pictures were well defined, it looked easy enough to follow.

This is very well written, like a text book for digital photography.
I highly recommend to others who wants to learn about digital photography.
